so much for politics being all about partisan theater
whatever happened to personal responsibility?
it takes two people to get pregnant.
so much for politics being all about partisan theater
GOP Senator Bill Cassidy Predicts SCOTUS Will Overturn Texas Abortion Ban
Cassidy downplayed the criticism of the Supreme Court's ruling.
The GOP senator said that the decision was not about the cons utionality of the Texas law.
"The ruling on SCOTUS was that the plaintiffs did not have standing.
It had nothing to do with the cons utionality of Roe v. Wade.
It was only on if the plaintiffs had standing,"
"I think the Supreme Court will swat it away once it comes to them in an appropriate manner.
If it is as terrible as people say it is, it is!
it will be destroyed by the Supreme Court," it won't be, the Catholic/Christians will vote the religion, not the law, more damage to the separation clause. Next they will weaponize "free expression"

our saviors
Oddly only one gets to decide.
That face is blue. Just like you.
Seems to be the theme here, anything universally loathed is tied to both parties.
Nothing odd about it, only the woman has a womb...
her body, her choice
Here's how the Justice Department could sue Texas for violating civil rights
the glaring problem with the law is that it is a clear civil rights violation.
"Attorney General Merrick Garland has the power, under federal civil rights laws, to go after any vigilantes who employ the Texas law to seek bounties from abortion providers or others who help women obtain abortions,"
"The attorney general should announce, as swiftly as possible, that he will use federal law to the extent possible to deter and prevent bounty hunters from employing the Texas law," he also said.
"If Texas wants to empower private vigilantes to intimidate abortion providers from serving women, why not make bounty hunters think twice before engaging in that intimidation?"
Tribe cited Section 242 of the federal criminal code, one that columnist Jennifer Rubin also noted in her Sunday piece would be key to combatting the Texas law. That part of the law makes it
a crime to willfully deprive individuals "of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Cons ution or laws of the United States."
initially designed to combat the violence of the Klan, but that it works with the Texas law "perfectly."
"The bounty seekers,
en led under the Texas law to collect penalties of at least $10,000,
have been made, in effect, private attorneys general of Texas," he explained.
"They act 'under color of state law,' and unless and until Roe v. Wade is overruled,
they unmistakably intend to prevent the exercise of a cons utional right."
Section 241 also "makes it an even
more serious crime"
for two or more people to work together to "oppress, threaten, or intimidate" anyone
"in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Cons ution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same."
"The Texas scheme could hardly be more perfectly designed to match the language of that section,"
even the most conservative jurists should look at the Texas law with concern because they likely don't support
"this seizure of private property, with unlimited penalties not tied to any actual harm suffered by the bounty hunter."
particularly fitting to use the Klan Act, which was enacted in 1871to ensure they were held accountable for lynching enslaved Black citizens.
civil actions, he said, that could be used under federal law, "including the ability to seek and obtain court orders to halt the illegal state scheme."
The DOJ can't use the Klan act, only the person wronged by the vigilante can use it.
the All Writs Act, which permits federal courts to
'issue all writs necessary or appropriate in aid of their respective jurisdictions' could allow the department to go to court to seek an order blocking the Texas law from being enforced,"
this is a unique occasion in which those attempting to undermine the cons utional rights of Americans must be challenged.

So what will the reciticent, wimpy, feckless Garland do? and how so, if at all?
Other legeal experts have looked at the law and concluded that it's B U L L S H I T, not thought out or just btag Repug lawyer are just TY lawyers.
Maybe the bag TX lawyers, always on the grub for fees, knows the law is bull , and nothing but a campaign ploy by bag Abbutt

A bunch of old white men in Austin get to decide
Pro choice DMC just wants to be a contrarian because of his hate boner for the left wing of ST
Doesn't take sides, but only punches in one direction
Oddly not anymore.
not sure whether the pointy end of the stick is aimed more at abortion bounty websites or in-person harassment, maybe both.
MG trying to remain stoic so he can get that Supreme Court seat. If he shows his ass now, even in a good way he'll have a hard time at the SC hearings when they occur. tee, hee.
We'll see soon what the Feds due to hole TX to women's Cons utional right to abortion
Why does that matter? If two get pregnant, why is only one able to decide the fate?
Amusing how much your discussion revolves around me instead of your topic.
