    ballroom construction hits a snag:

A divided federal appeals court ruled Friday that President Donald Trump is unlawfully constructing a massive new ballroom at the White House, possibly teeing up a high-stakes showdown over the issue before the Supreme Court.“Whether or not a massive ballroom should be constructed is for Congress to decide and is not a matter for Executive self-help,” the DC Circuit Court of Appeals said in a 2-1 ruling siding with the nation’s top historic preservation group, which sued over the project last year.

“The National Trust has shown, compellingly, that Congress has not ceded unfettered authority to the Executive Branch to dramatically redesign, reshape, and reconstruct the White House – the People’s House – to fit a particular President’s desires,” the court wrote in its unsigned opinion.

The DC Circuit, however, paused implementation of its ruling for two weeks to give Trump time to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Trump broke the law and usurped Congressional power again

We are aware of no instance in American history in which a President unilaterally and using privately collected funds demolished substantial portions of the White House that Congress authorized to be built and American taxpayers paid for. Until now.

the annual jazz jam at the Kennedy Center is a free event
Kennedy Center's lawsuit against Chuck Redd is dismissed with prejudice, Redd awarded lawyer's expenses

No contract was signed for the cancelled event, the Kennedy Center's assertion that Redd had agreed to sign a deal did not prevail

The court considered the Kennedy Center's filing contesting the dismissal even though it was late and over the page limit

The dismissal on Friday was granted under Washington’s Anti-SLAPP laws, which are designed to prevent meritless lawsuits intended to silence opposing points of view on matters of public interest.

Redd, a drummer and vibraphone player who has toured with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Ray Brown, had presided over holiday “Jazz Jams” at the Kennedy Center since 2006. He called off last year’s performance shortly after Trump’s handpicked board at the Kennedy Center voted to add the president’s name to the facility.

“The Center sued Mr. Redd because he publicly and rightly objected to adding Donald Trump’s name to the Kennedy Center, a living memorial to former President John F. Kennedy,” Lisa J. Banks, one of Redd’s lawyers, said in a statement. “The lawsuit against Mr. Redd was political retribution, pure and simple, by the Trump Kennedy Center, and the Court correctly saw it as such in dismissing the case with prejudice.”

In March, the Kennedy Center went through with the lawsuit, but later attempted to settle with Redd, The Washington Post reported, citing a court filing.

The Kennedy Center would drop the lawsuit if Redd paid the organization $7,500, played at the Christmas Eve concert, and made no political comments about his reason for withdrawing from the event.

damnatio memoriae becomes more likely, the more Trump does stuff like this

The board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts voted on Thursday to inscribe President Trump’s name on the building beneath the main signage, according to two people with direct knowledge of the proceedings, aggressively testing a federal judge’s order.

According to the resolution approved by the Trump-allied board, the inscription underneath the ins ution’s name would read: “Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump.” The board’s decision, which directs officials to act by “all legal means,” came shortly after it voted to move forward with Mr. Trump’s plan to shutter the building for renovations.

The Kennedy Center Board also voted to close the Center for two years

If Trump can't have his name on it he can at least keep everyone else out while he demolishes -- er, remodels -- it

In a Truth social post, Trump posts language as his own that comes from an April DOJ brief that sounded like a Truth social post.

The Friday night post came as SG Sauer is asking SCOTUS to let Trump build his ballroom now.

Kennedy Center board threatens to demolish Kennedy Center if Trump isn't allowed to keep his name on it and remodel it

The Trump administration is, for the first time, threatening the demolition of the Kennedy Center if the arts ins ution isn’t allowed to follow its plans for the site, including adding President Donald Trump’s name to the front of the building.

“Without those efforts, the Center will deteriorate further into an unsafe, decrepit structure that will be required to be taken down, with a determination to follow on what to build on the site, such as a large outdoor amphitheater overlooking the Potomac River that has been proposed, by some, for many years,” Justice Department attorney Brantley T. Mayers wrote in a court filing on Monday

Kennedy Center finances tanked after the Trump takeover

Trump is the biggest threat to the Kennedy Center, tbh

Fundraising and ticket sales at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts catastrophically plunged after its board of trustees voted to rename the D.C. center after President Donald Trump and put his name on the building, The Washington Post reported.

The center was already experiencing a drop in ticket sales after Trump took over the performing arts center, naming himself as chairman and appointing close advisers and allies to its board. Revenue did appear to stabilize, but after his name was added to the building, it was on track to fall nearly $100 million short of its revenue target, according to do ents obtained by the Post and an official familiar with the financial situation.

This dramatic drop came despite efforts to publicly paint Trump's takeover as a financial rescue.
