Then I never had any valid US driver's license, just my french one.
And I was driving a car completely legally !

The fact is the french driver's license is valid in lots of states, such as Pennsylvania (where I was).
Maybe it's not the case for Texas, it's my guess and I'll check that.
Anyway that might have been why Tony got mad...
I know I was mad when my french driver's license was questionned by police officers or even at bar entrances but I knew the law was on my side and sometimes I would mouth at them for not knowing their own laws...
Never had any problems with justice...

Whatever state you LIVE in in the US expects you to get a valid local drivers' license. You can use a foreign license if you are visiting this country. If you MOVE here, you have to get a permanent license for the state where you live. If I visited France, I'd probably be allowed to drive a rental car with my TX drivers' license. If I MOVED there to LIVE, I'm pretty sure they would expect me to get a French driver's license.

But anyway. If they listed his race wrong, the whole thing could be thrown out. Once LJ got stopped for a ticket in Hill Country Village and they put "White" on it. (He's not white.) And apparently the HCV police had been in trouble for targeting minorities or something, so they had to throw out the ticket.
