Parker stayed in Pop's dog house for the first few years and so did Ginobilli. I think it is Pops connect to the military as he always makes a player pay his dues before letting them open up. Udrih is the real deal and probably is the best shooter on the Spurs. When Pop did a video clinic for shooting he choose Beno because his shooting mechanics are flawless. Beno is wanted by several teams because he is a starter waiting to happen. It will be very hard to get adequate value in return because his salary is also low. Beno is the real deal.
Meaningless without land plattes and census numbers.
I agree.
I think Beno is too slow and his arms too stubby to be considered starting material. He would have to really dedicate himself to maximizing his conditioning and I don't know if he's willing to do that.
He is great shooter and good distributor, but still too suspect to back- and midcourt pressure. That is without a doubt his biggest problem with Pop -- but you have to understand this has been the problem with most of Tony's backups. If Pop didn't care about that, Jason Hart would still be here.
I wish the Sixers would want Parker instead![]()

sixers have no one good enough to give up parker for
Parker would have to be Iguodala + somebody as good as Iguodala.
AI?
I was only kidding by the way, I know it's not going to happen....
I don't think Eva would like cold weather cities, anyway.
Ahhh, that's part of my master plan![]()

Several teams asking Spurs about Beno Udrih
SpursReport
Wednesday, July 05, 2006
There have now been several reports that the Spurs may be exploring trade options which involve backup point guard Beno Udrih.
It is already known that the Spurs have been calling around asking to see if anyone will take Brent Barry and/or the draft rights to Luis Scola (no takers so far), but several teams teams have contacted the Spurs' front office about the availability of Udrih.
The Spurs, who just missed out on (veteran point guard) Speedy Claxton after he bolted from the Hornets to sign with the Hawks, have gotten calls from teams like the Sixers.
So far nothing to report other than some chatter.
Udrih's stock has risen everywhere since being drafted by the Spurs in 2004. How the Spurs feel about him seems a question mark, however. Although he played well in limited minutes, he spent most of the playoffs on the bench behind Nick Van Exel.
After a European career in which he battled injuries and agent problems, Udrih was off the radar for most NBA teams prior to the 2004 draft, but he could be a starter for several young teams today.
Udrih, who worked out for as many as nine teams before the Spurs drafted him in the first round, is well known by NBA front offices and many feel he could shine in the league given more minutes on the floor.
"That the Spurs were trying to land Speedy Claxton tells you that they may not have the confidence in Udrih that some may think," said one NBA executive who spoke on condition of anonymity. "But there is no doubt that other teams would love to have him. Especially given his speed and passing ability."
Thank God they've confirmed this breaking nonstory. So far nothing to report other than some chatter.
why does anyone like oberto??? name something he did for us last year....the trade would bascially be a beno for hunter...thats a no brainer to me...we can get another pg or use barry.... and oberto to me takes up a roster spot...and that spot could be for marks or for mr. jeffries
Who ever confirmed that the Spurs made any real attempt at Speedy??
I don't think they did. They might have called his agent and said, "Will he come here for really cheap? No? Okay, good luck."
I don't think they ever had any intention of spending the MLE on a backup point.
Are you referring to this article: Finding backup point guard becomes Popovich's priority
Classic Pop in that article. Neither here nor there. You can read it both ways. I read it as not favorable to Beno but he's an option.
I like the Hunter trade. He was discussed here last summer or before the trade deadline. He's no more or less consistent than Nazr but he's younger and is a legitimate 7 footer. Maybe he could learn help defense. He gave the Spurs a tough time during the '05 Spurs/Suns series.
That still cracks me up. He ends up asking the same question he was asked.
Maybe we'll know by the time we play Houston in the preseason....
Players of intrique on the Sixers:
+ Matt Barnes
+ Willie Green
+ Steven Hunter
+ Webber
