This is the NBA where a Spur player was T'd up (I think it was Elson) for coming into the game too slowly and with his jersey partially untucked. You think the instigators are getting 5-10? There WAS NO FIGHT until Melo swung his first weak-ass punch. Then he came back and connected again.

Tonight's brawl took place in the recent context and history of the Pacers/Pistons brawl.
That the fans were not involved tonight is irrelevant.
The Knicks/Nuggets players should have known from the Nov 2004 brawl that the penalties were/would be severe and the NBA/Stern's extremely clear position about such conduct.
The tonight's brawl is not measured and scaled by comparing it with Nov 2004, but against Stern's "zero tolerance" policy.

I wouldn't say everyone. Just those who threw punches. Guys like Channing Frye looked like they were trying to separate players more than anything.
