Laughable...they should start giving partial refunds to lessen the disappointment.
Utterly pathetic defensive effort against the sub .500 bucks. At least this is happening now rather than the end of the season but we aren't winning if we can't even rely on our defense. It's like it's just gone gone gone....
Laughable...they should start giving partial refunds to lessen the disappointment.
I'm feeling merged...
I for one am upset with the Spurs performance tonight.... How in the does Popovich keep Beno in with the game in the balance and have Eric Williams on the sidelines when he scored 14 points in limited minutes.
Beno made two beatiful spin moves to have two open layups only to blow them and have Tim Duncan and I believe Elson save his ass to put the ball back in.
The defense was atrocious tonight..... At halftime commentators were reporting that Popovich was pleased with the defense.... the Bucks lit up 55 on the Spurs but when the Bucks scored 59 in the second half Popovich goes on to say at the end of the game that their defense was the worst in seven or eight years.
Commentators were starting to say towards the end of the game that the Spurs were short handed.... They were not saying that when the Spurs had a 13 point lead in the third quarter. There is no excuse for losing the lead late in the ball game. Williams should have been in the game and not Beno... Popovich knew what he was up against facing the Bucks. Williams is known for his defense not Beno.
If they continue to have problems closing out games we will be in for a long season.
we have to trade beno so pop can not play him so much in the 4
The Spurs just suck, that's all.
For some reason, I felt that the Spurs were gonna lose this one. I just had a feeling.
Thats another point.... Thank you Ducks.... Tony had 22 points in the first half but last time I checked a game is 48 minutes. Where was Tony in the second half.
Another thing I saw was two to three consecutive layups scored on Tim towards the end of the game. We need to have some sort of intimidating presence in the paint.
When it was Tim and David not many players challenged the paint but now Tim does not have much help in there.... Oberto is not a shot blocker and Elson is not there...... I don't know if a different defensive scheme is needed to accomadate the talents we currently have or we need to go out and look for someone to fill the role.
Pop was playing small ball against one of the best small ball teams in the league.
...in the first halves of games.
And now we face Jazz @ Spurs Thurs night.
The Spurs seem totally lost, lackadaisical, indifferent.
I have no confidence that they can bounce back from tonight and even compete with the Jazz.
And don't be fooled if the Spurs jump out front of the Jazz by a lot in the first qtr. Several times this season, I've seen the Jazz badly outscored in the first qtr, but keep plugging away, and then finish strong to win the game. At least 2 times with Memo putting in the dagger.
Spurs suck at home. I feel better about their chances winning if they were playing on the road.
tp got 4 assist in the second half and more rebounds
mike sucked in the first half and got hot
spurs went to him and he got points
taking points away from tp
please, no excuses like this. just man up and say it, the spurs have no killer instinct, can't hold a double digit lead lately and pop is getting outcoached left and right. i love the spurs and i know they'll get better but these games that they should have won will haunt them as they fight for homecourt advantage in the playoffs.
.....
We did hold them to 1-11 from threes, I think that was the only positive point of the game. And what a way to perform after an article on their defense was written yesterday.
Spurs D just sucks. I have been saying it for a while now and it just continues.
And it's not just because Bowen is getting lit up. He has some bad games, he gets rubbed off on screens, etc. But it's the whole entire Spurs defense. It's crap. No one rotates well, no one helps, Tim is always letting players get past him and then tries to block from behind ala AK47. I think that the thing that hurt the Spurs a lot so far this season was winning. When they won so many games playing bad D, it lulled them into thinking they were better than they are. That's why I always say that I think Pop likes it when they lose some games because it makes them realize that they are actually sucking. Because for a while there, they were winning ball games but playing bad basketball.
I don't think this is the end for this team or anything, after all they have a great record. But I do believe that they have to re-commit to playing D. Just because they were averaging around 100 ppg doesn't mean they are always going to be able to outscore opponents. They have to be able to lock some teams down (and I know they did that against some scrub teams).
57% shooting from the Bucks? 70+ points in the paint. This is the time they need to dig deep and find their defensive iden y again.
And yes, Manu, Barry etc out didn't help. The other Spurs players being a little ill or whatever. It doesn't really matter. They lost because they couldn't get stops, just like in many other losses (and wins) this season.
It will be interesting to see what happens next.
I'd like to see Pop accept some responsibility for his ty lineups and poor decision making.
ty lineups couldn't be avoided much today. Missing Manu/Barry made the lineups all messed up.
Only positive, EWill looks like he lost some weight and found a shot. Now it's time to package and trade him.
Haven't read the game blog yet, but I hope people noted that Tim pulled some outrageous crap like missing a hopelessly weak shot, then punching the air because he didn't get the foul call while his man ran down the court and put back in a missed layup.
Add me to the list of people who are tired of him putting more heart into his whining than his play.
Refs even gave the Spurs calls in the fourth and it didn't matter because they couldn't have stopped Michael Redd's grandmother.
Hot damn. Second post in the thread.
Yeah he is going up weak as on offense and looking for calls all the time and then playing D by letting players blow by him and then trying to defend from behind. It's weak. He needs to snap out of it.
I call bull on Pop treating Tim like all the other players. Tim is doing that got Malik DNPs.
Also, not that this has anything to do with defense, but WTF is up with Tim standing and holding the ball while he's being triple teamed?
