UFCJunkie.com caught up with Chuck Liddell's manager to get a response to the allegations made by Vernon "Tiger" White in an interview posted earlier this week on BloodyKnux.com.

Liddell's manager Jervis Cole told UFCJunkie.com, simply:

”[It’s] not true,” Jervis Cole says. “No other comment is needed.“

Good enough for me. But hey, I'm a Quinton Jackson fan so can we let the man enjoy his victory this time?

    http://www.mmanews.com/ufc/Liddell-M...aims-Made.html

I like mmanews a lot, always have. So this isn't an allegation type comment but they sure are sounding more a blog than a sports news website lately. Wonder whats going on.

Great month for mma and its getting hard to keep up with everything. The point is going to come soon where I am going to have to miss an event. Hard to believe considering not that long ago we had months in between events.

My DVR is packed and the patience of my gal with all of this MMA is waning. I typically only watch Football, MMA and Euro soccer which is normally spread out but there is just so much going on now its getting tough.

I can't watch PRIDE on FOX, the editing is too much.

Bodog, its hit or miss with the scheduling. Sometimes it is labeled wrong and you get an infomercial.

IFL is really growing on me. Wish they would go to a white mat.

The Pride on FSN editing IS annoying (it's funny how they use the same crowd shot most of the time!)...but I still watch. The most recent show was dedicated to Rampage. Showed 4 or 5 of his Pride fights. It's kinda cool how Trigg and Glazier discuss the UFC on the show now...

An interesting article on Sherdog this morning...

Jackson: PRIDE Offered Bonus to Lose
    Tuesday, June 12, 2007
    by Sherdog.com Staff

Prior to making his PRIDE debut against Kazushi Sakuraba (Pictures) in July 2001, Quinton Jackson (Pictures) said PRIDE executives offered to pay him a $2000 bonus if he lost by knockout or submission and did not tap.

Speaking with MMA Today before his UFC light heavyweight championship winning performance, Jackson said he signed to fight for $10,000, but alleged that PRIDE executives, whom he said "screwed" him over, offered $12,000 if he was finished in the ring by the Japanese star.

"I'm never the type of fighter that would lose for money," Jackson said. "I don't do that. But they told me, 'If you win this fight, you get $10,000.' But they told me -- these are like the two people from PRIDE who got fired recently, I don't know if the president of PRIDE knew about it -- but they told me themselves: 'If you lose by knockout or submission and you don't tap, you get $12,000.'

"I said, 'But what if I knock him out?' and they said 'You get $10,000.' Then I understood what was going on. This was my first time fighting in the big show in Japan and I learned sometimes they wanted the other guy to win."

After slamming the smaller Sakuraba several times and nearly lifting out of the ring over the top rope, Jackson, who took the fight on short notice, finally suc bed to Sakuraba after getting caught in a choke.

"I knew it was going to be tough for me to win that fight, so I went out there and gave it my best anyways to get my $10,000," Jackson said.

DSE recently relinquished control of PRIDE when it sold the company to UFC owner Lorenzo Fer ta.

Not surprised. o has alluded to the same problem. If I remember right I believe he said if its a decision and its a popular Japanese fighter you aren't winning.

Now I wonder if the UFC asked him to say this, I wonder if they are simply going to bury PRIDE and keep the video library. Zuffa can’t afford to be associated with something that has fixed fights, especially in their infancy. The longer it goes on without PRIDE having the show the lesser chance they have of being successful in Japan ever again. Clock is ticking on them.

It's pretty clear he didn't throw that fight...who would for $2k anyway?

Not really that surprising that some of the behind the scenes people were making offers like this though...

And to think, I used to have to rent tough man / UFC on VHS from hollywood video about 6 to 12 months after they aired because that was my only option...

Tonight marks one of the busiest nights of mixed martial arts on television in recent memory. Everyone is of course aware of UFC Fight Night live on e TV, but there are several other shows that premier tonight, as well as a couple of replays.

UFC Fight Night is scheduled to air live on e TV at 9pm ET and features the Sam Stout vs. Spencer Fisher rematch in the main event. The UFC also airs an Unleashed replay just prior to UFC Fight Night at 8pm ET on e TV. And immediately following UFC Fight Night, the UFC 72 Countdown premiers at 11pm ET, trailed by a rerun of The Ultimate Fighter.

Also premiering tonight is the Countdown to Shamrock vs. Baroni on Showtime at 8:30pm ET. Frank Shamrock vs. Phil Baroni headlines the June 22nd Strikeforce event on pay-per-view.

Fight Girls also begins its first season tonight on the Oxygen Network at 10:30pm ET. This new series features famed Muay Thai instructor Master Toddy and rising mixed martial arts star Gina Carano as they lead a group of aspiring female kickboxers.

Bodog Fight also airs a new special episode on Ion. Tonight's episode features four previously non-televised undercard bouts from the Fedor Emelianenko vs. Matt Lindland pay-per-view including fighters Julie Kedzie, Amar Suloev, and Ray Steinbess.

Not to be left out, mixed martial arts continues its takeover of the Versus network tonight with replays of Tapout at 8pm and 11pm ET and a replay of World Extreme Cagefighting 28, featuring Urijah Faber vs. Chance Farrar, at 9pm ET.

So get your TiVo's or whatever DVR device you have ready to go, it's going to be a busy night of TV for MMA fans.

The gyms in Brazil are an incredible class system and complicated.

    This is huge.

    ************************************************** **

Even before Anderson Silva captured the Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight belt with a brutal knockout of then champion Rich Franklin, it was clear that the friendship between Silva and the Nogueira brothers was very strong. Silva lives in Curitiba, Brazil and used to go to Nogueira’s house in Rio de Janeiro all the time to train.

After Silva won the middleweight championship, he was able to put UFC President Dana White and Nogueira in contact with each other and a contract followed shortly thereafter. On May 11th, Nogueira stated, “I received the invite to fight at the UFC when I came to the U.S. to corner Roan Jucão at UFC Fight Night. I have followed Anderson and Eddie’s [Soares, Anderson’s manager] advice to sign the contract with Dana White. So I am very happy with the situation.”

Nogueira signed the UFC contract without the help of BTT saying in an interview with Marcelo Alonso of Tatame, “I’m 30 years old and able to negotiate my own stuffs. I know what is good to me.” But he didn’t discount his training. “BTT is an excellent place for me to train.”

That was about a month ago. It appears that things have taken a downward turn since then. The next issue of Tatame will focus on the division at BTT.

Specifically addressing the situation with Nogueira, Murilo Bustamante of BTT commented to Tatame, “I am more than a month in trying to clear things up, to talk to him. If he is upset, he should come to me. This would be the right way to do things, besides that, we’ve been friends forever. He should give me a chance to clear things up in the name of our friendship.”

For his part, it appears that Nogueira isn’t in any rush to take Bustamante up on his comments. Also speaking with Tatame, Nogueira stated, “I don’t wanna talk about it. Let them talk. Murilo stated that he doesn’t know if BTT will have me back. I will let them think for a while.”

And at that, it doesn’t appear that a resolution is soon in the offing.

While there was some speculation that Nogueira may be going to the newly formed Black House team to join Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort, and Ryoto Machida, among others that is not entirely clear. Nogueira has trained there with Silva, but does have an entire training structure in his house where he lives with his brother Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Jeferson Feijão and professional boxer Lino Barros.

Sport Illustrated reader comments on the "Ultimate Fighting" article...

    1. How can you take an organization seriously when its president can't complete a sentence without droping the f bomb? Dana White is the clown prince of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. And UFC has a 43-year-old heavyweight champion? Please. Here's the real f bomb for mixed martial arts: fad
    Bill Donovan, Clarks Summit, Pa

    2. Your dedicating eight pages to the Ultimate Fighting Championship is like Gourmet magazine doing eight pages on frozen TV diners.
    Larry Galla, Houston

    3. You pose the question on your cover, Too Brutal or the future? May I suggest that the answer is both.
    Terence McManus, New Sharon, Maine

    4. When do we get the lions and the thumbs up/thumbs down decisions?
    J. Larsen, Seattle

    ----------------

I agree about Dana White and his F bombs. Annoying as and not necessary...

Just a comment, but I am digging this WEC on Versus.

Versus has an HD station, coupled with MMA's popularity, theyre promoting the out of it, and it almost guarantees MMA is on everyday.

The fighters arent bad either. Not bad at all.

Heck yea...it's really well done, and apparently they're going to start building the talent up there too (ie, Paulo Filho).

The Tapout show isn't bad either, if you can ignore the schtick of the Tapout crew. They do have some wicked inside access though...I don't think I've ever seen what "The Pit" looks like for example. As weird as they are, everybody in the industry knows them...

    Royce shamed the family name!!!!!!

    Thursday, June 14, 2007
    by Josh Gross ([email protected])

Mixed martial arts icon Royce Gracie (Pictures), best known as the slender gi-wearing Brazilian who twisted oversized compe ors into knots during the early days of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, tested positive for traces of Nandrolone, a commonly used anabolic steroid, following his decision win over Kazushi Sakuraba (Pictures), June 2 in Los Angeles, the California State Athletic Commission revealed Thursday.

Gracie (14-3-3) has been suspended from June 2, 2007 through May 30, 2008, and is fined $2,500, the maximum penalty by the CSAC. The 40-year-old member of the legendary fighting family has until July 13 to appeal the suspension to the CSAC.

Calls to Gracie's representatives were not immediately returned.
