In their openinig game of the Acropolis Cup, the Slovenian team defeated Italy 84-81. Slovenia outrebounded the opponents by 37-22 and second half opened with a 15-1 run. Nesterovic, Smodis and Jagodnik combined for 23 of Slovenian's 28 third-quarter points. Slovenia had their largest lead at 56-37 but Italy cut the deficit to 79-80 and Mancinelli missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Matjaz Smodis finished with 13 points, Radoslav Nesterovic (212-C-76) had 12 points and 7 rebounds, Goran Jagodnik netted 11 points and Aleksandar Capin posted 10.
