Tony worked on his game when asked. Beno got offended.
Why is Tony Parker better than Beno Udrih?
Tony worked on his game when asked. Beno got offended.
Was it evident in his play? His conditioning? His at ude?You know Tony partied as much as Beno-- often at the same place. No one cared.
That seems to be the difference - and the reason no one cared.
Then gripe about his weight and not his partying.
Gripe about his practice and not his interviews.
Gripe about the things that actually matter-- and not the things that other players did and people thought was fine.
You know, you would think that people who are trying to make a point (however stupid it may be) would not try to compare an underachiever with the latest Finals MVP. It really isn't a good debate practice to try to make a pile of dog look better by comparing it to solid gold.
Yeah, you were clamoring for his ouster back then, weren't you? Now you're revising your own historyObviously this was not the case, I know it doesn't fit your agenda but it's the truth. He might still be here had Darius Washington not shown such promise.Beno had talent, but he'd worn out his welcome. Any benefit of the doubt he might have had dried up, he was likely never to get a legitimate shot, the relationship was going to devolve, and the Spurs were going to give something up to get rid of him because he wouldn't last the length of the contract.
It's possible that's going to happen, but Since Beno dribbled the ball past half court with success dozens of times and the Spurs were unable to turn him into a blubbering mass of turnovers, and since he took a foul from Duncan, limped to the free throw line and finished the game, he could step in front of a bus tonight and I'll consider my point proven. Like I said, I'm glad he's gone, and I'm on record saying it happened a year too late. I never hated him the way some of you do. I'm not sure I've ever hated anybody the way some of you hate Beno.
Damn, the level of delusion that some people let their obsessions take them to is unbelievable.
Realistic, non-obsessed fans don't care what a player does as long as he stays clear of the law and performs on the court.
Tony got married, had an injury and practiced with his national team this summer: He's an All-Star candidate.
Beno felt the same way about practice as Allen Iverson, circa the Sixers.
Semantics much? Maybe its not the partying directly but the lack of priorties. If a person is able to handle partying and still improve in their job environment then kudos to them. If a person is NOT able to do that, then the partying is an issue.
At least we have a new Classic Thread.
Kori, can you post that screenshot of Beno's MySpace response to Midge, please?
Give me a break with this garbage lol. So Tony Parker dominated Boobie in Gibson in the FinalsWho gives a ? What did Parker do against Jason Kidd? What did Parker do against Chauncey Billups? Dude folded like a in lawn chair
The funny thing is Beno gets for not being able to handle Lindsey Hunter in the 2005 Finals but Parker gets a free pass when he turned into Houdini in that series lol. As that series went on Parker shrunk so much you needed a microscope to find his ass on the floor. Popovich practically had to hide him on offense in Game 7 lol.
The only similarity between Tony's going to the press and Beno's going to the press is that they both went to the press. Tony voiced his opinion about his role on the team. Beno used it as a platform to blame all his problems on everyone but himself.
By the time this season's over, we may have a new GOAT.
They all matter.
Every Spur can go nightclubs and it doesn't make a difference, if they don't let themselves get out of shape and continue to practice hard.
Every Spur can go to the press once about something that matters to them, and then admit they handle it wrong.
It's in the Quattro somewhere.
Played pretty well. What did Parker do against Jason Kidd?
Advanced the ball past half court. What did Parker do against Chauncey Billups.
So maybe if Beno was the starter in 2006, the Spurs would have won the championship?
That I said he's a good basketball player <> I wanted the Spurs to pick up his option. You're welcome to go back through any of my posts, because I said that he needed to go. There might be one where I predicted exactly this.
So it was not the case, but it's the truth. Nice.
I just hate that he is now proving for certain that he completely dogged it his entire time in SA. Sure Pop and the organization could have handled things a bit differently and there is blame there that Pop has admitted, but Beno obviously did absolutely nothing on purpose and was satisfied to ride others' coattails to get rings. He could have easily had the backup position and PT if he would have just not been such a little pussy with every minor injury taking 7+ weeks to heal. His actions while taking millions of dollars is absolutely disgusting.
And sign whom? For how much? Beno was cheap and talented. Since there was no other option that you could come up with, it was fine to try again.
No, it wasn't the truth. I'd say don't be obtuse, but I realize your agenda won't allow anything else.So it was not the case, but it's the truth. Nice.
And in case your tears of joy at seeing Beno's face are blocking your view, check the bottom of the screencap.
I agree. There's no justification for what Beno did IMO. Nobody put a gun to his head to sign with the Spurs. Parker always worked harder than Beno, and had earned some la ude. Beno missed too many camps to get away with going down that road.
