As cheap as Holt apparently is over a couple million dollars I find it hard to believe he would splurge on an MRI machine...especially when they can simply borrow somebody else's.
Do you even know what the price tag on one of those is?
This is true. My ortho in AZ is also the doc for the Arizona Cardinals. He's got a huge practice, but also is the team's doc.

Oh crap.
If Jim says this, then that means Duncan's injury is career-threatening.
from mysanantonio.com
It appears that Tim Duncan’s frightening fall in the first half of the Spurs’ victory over Portland on Sunday was a scare and nothing more.
He has a bruised right knee and sprained right ankle – and is unlikely to play in Wednesday’s game against Dallas – but he seems to have escaped serious injury.
Well, the Spurs have built what is considered to be one of the best sports medicine complexes next to their practice facility on Floyd Curl. I think it's a misconception that he's cheap. He just doesn't like to flush money away without benefit or outside of a good bargain ratio (like Beno or Jackie Butler).
I thought for sure when Timmy went down that he tore his MCL. It really looked awkward.
Well now we can all exhale.
Two week vacation for Timmy in December = Pop's chance to yell = happy Popovich.
Yes, I do--a couple of million plus maintenance/operating costs which are assessed per year. Still, I would bet money that there is one in the Spurs sports medicine complex next door, and that the Spurs get first chance at it.As cheap as Holt apparently is over a couple million dollars I find it hard to believe he would splurge on an MRI machine...especially when they can simply borrow somebody else's.

That was exactly my thought. The fall made his leg look grotesque. I figured he'd be fortunate if it was only one ligament. I suspect that despite the good news, the Spurs will be extremely cautious with the timetable for bringing Timmy back.
Rightfully so. They definitely need to be careful with this one. We've been lucky with a general lack of significant injuries to Duncan so far in his career. But that doesn't mean that the team should rest on its laurels.
Jeff McDonald: Duncan's MRI results are in
Tim Duncan's MRI results came back Monday afternoon negative, which is positive for the Spurs and their franchise player.
There is no ligament damage in his right knee, which he injured while tangling with Portland's James Jones in Sunday afternoon's game.
The Spurs are officially listing Duncan with a sprained right ankle, though his right knee remains bruised and sore for the time being. He is being ruled out of Wednesday's game against Dallas, after which time his condition will be updated.
He could miss a game. He could miss two weeks. But either is much better than the alternative.Link
Great News!! Glad to hear it's not too serious.
Thank GOD it was nothing major!!!
yessssssssssssssss! YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! REJOICE TIMMY FANS!!!!!!! LET'S HAVE A ING PARADE!
Sweet! I got what I wanted for Christmas!
I'm ecstatic.![]()
everybody is ecstatic... except mav fans, suns fans, rocket fans, cav fans, celtic fans, jazz fans, etc.
I just talked to the die hard Suns fan in my office and he's happy too. He says he wants the Suns to beat up on a Spurs team with no excuses for a loss. How ironic...![]()
Thank god. I wasn't going to be the slightest bit relieved until I heard the MRI came back negative.
Yay!!!! Thank god! Glad to know he is okay.
"We don’t normally bother ‘all staff’ with injury updates … but … since Tim’s fall looked so bad last night we thought that everyone might want an update … good news … he had an MRI early today – on both his ankle and his knee – and everything came back negative (he also had x-rays here at the AT&T Center last night which were negative) … he won’t play on Wednesday … not sure yet how long he’ll be out … need to see how he reacts to treatment … will know more in the next day or two … the good news is that it should be short-term … just don’t know yet if it’ll be a game or two or a week or two …"
