actually Heath already finished his filming + post production for the Joker in the Dark Knight because he was working on another film after the dark knight and didn't want the 2 films to conflict with each other
so we will get to see his final and possibly best work up to this point this summer as the Joker in the Dark Knight

Yuh! There can be Joker sequals, as Batman has had like,5 or 6 different jokers, since the TV show/movies started. I bet Jack Nicholson, will be the next one
there is a difference between finished filming and finished post production where you do audio dubbing, audio editing, etc. The performance wouldn't have been the same if someone had to do a voice over and try and imitate his performance. Some of the other actors haven't finished post production, he did his early so he wouldn't conflict with his next film
the film was in the can, finito, i know this from inside sources.

Lots of speculation, my brother had some type of sickness, I don't know if it was cold, flu, or what but he was taking Sudafed, I think something else, and caffeine and he ran into some trouble with a really high heart rate, they had to call the paramedics, etc.

Ledger also told The New York Times in a November interview that he "stressed out a little too much" during the Dylan film, and had trouble sleeping while portraying the Joker, whom he called a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy."
"Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night," Ledger told the newspaper. "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going." He said he took two Ambien pills, which only worked for an hour, the paper said.
