"supposed to do things like cut, move, and spot up"

But any dumb Spurs fan (and every team in the NBA) can see that the other 4 Spurs don't do those things, so 4down, AS THE SPURS RUN IT, sucks. And when then Tim can't get the ball down low, like in 4 games vs LAL/May, they give it to him way out on the wing, called it "4 up"?, and then stand around watching him.

Tim holds the ball TOO DAMN LONG, he kills the possession, kills the offense. Everybody sees it, Sean Elliot es about it every game, Pop admits it.

This YET ANOTHER (road) loss, 6 or 7 at least, where Spurs give away the game to an inferior team that is playing crappy (incredibly, HOU actually shot worse FG% than that Spurs).

It would really be nice for a change if the Spurs and Top 4 opponent could both play solid games and the Spurs lose. At least one could say the Spurs played well and got beat instead of the Spurs playing like and getting beat by inferior teams playing like .

The Spurs are continuing to piss me off. Losing almost every close game to ty teams (Memphis w/out Pau, Toronto w/ Vince on the bench, Kirelenko-less Jazz).

Tim continues to be passive and wait for the double team instead of going ahead and attacking his defender. When he catches the ball on the wing he should turn, face his defender, and bank it in. Instead he posts up and tries to draw the double. Tim is the only player on this team that doesn't have to rely on a screen or other sort of help from his teammates to get a shot off. HE NEEDS TO BE MORE ING AGGRESSIVE.

Manu and Tony need to start looking for their teammates when they drive down the lane (Tim and Robert are often open for jumpers off the screen and roll).

Tim needs to be in the game more, every time he goes out of the game the spurs become pussies inside and get outscored. And as we all have learned painfully, every point counts.

Bottom line, SPURS NEED SOME GODDAMN INTENSITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not just one game, goddammit. It's the 6th or 7th loss the Spurs have given away to inferior teams. It's 8th loss on the road for 9 total losses.

These Spurs are soft. They're getting beat to on the boards, and this isn't the first game. That's lacking hustle and desire. Spurs can't hold a big lead.

Spurs have 3 tough games next week.

At least your not on a losing streak

Used in small doses, 4down is a great set and initiator. Used for entire quarters, halves, or even games, and it is the bane of the Spurs' existence.

The compounding problem with 4down is that it is predicated on other teams doubling. So basically the entire Spurs offense is now in a mode where it's waiting for the other team to initiate the offense instead of bringing the offense to the other team.

It sucks so bad because everyone's waiting. Tim waits entirely too long for doubles, then inevitably gets tangled in them when they do come. In the mean time, the rest of his teammates are waiting for the defense to do their thing before said teammates initiate their part of the offense.

So basically everyone's standing around waiting on offense. It's a whole mindset that breeds passivity, and leads to things like our wing players standing around and not cutting, because they are waiting to see what the defense is doing.

This would be a great offense to run on the football field where you get 35-45 seconds to line up and see what the other team's gonna do defensively, then adjust. Problem is Spurs only have a 24 second shot clock, and Tim doesn't usually get the ball in 4down until there's 12-14 seconds on the clock.

All a team has to do to defend it is around with some fake doubles (having one guy take a step or too, just enough to make Tim hesitate and make the perimeter guys wonder what they're really trying to do), and by the time Tim initiates any offense you're already in the bind of having to hurry a shot with the clock winding down.

It's a passive, reactionary offensive set, which all too often the last five years has resorted in the same passive, reactionary offense with the same initiator (Tim) but different complimentary pieces.

I guess I just figure that after five years of the same , more people would realize that we keep getting the same results with different players. It worked once, in '99. It worked to a lesser extent for our second le run, but took Tim Ducan smacking Pop upside the head and saying "play Steve Kerr."

We don't have a Kerr. Or a Dale Ellis. Or a Michael Redd, Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Damon Jones, etc. The sooner we quit pretending we do, the better off we'll be.

    have you followered spurs long?

    they peak after march

    it is called spam

duncan plays better after all star break
I hope you're right but the stock market has taught me that past performance is not a guarentee of future success. I would hate if the Spurs depended on past season trends. I would prefer that they work on whatever needs FOCUS and continue to improve FOCUS in these areas. So that when march comes around the Spurs will be able to FOCUS on the playoffs.

How the F do you only score 67 points against the Rockets...

    WTF!
    lack of FOCUS
