Verdict is still out. Many of us are upset because we passed up MORE proven guys like CDR, Chalmers, Arthur, and Green. Hill may be as talented as them...guess we will wait and see.
If this kid is good, then did they really pass up anything?

So many asshats here sometimes...UNREAL. I remember 01 and people saying TONY WHO?
They'd watch the video and say he can't dunk, his jump shot is funny and euros are soft and now look at him... he is sleeping with a Maxim's Top 5 girl and driving a Murcielago. That biatches, is knowing what a player can do. It's not a bad pick for 26. A few years from now, there will be some Joe Fortes' and Kirk Hastons and Jerryl Sassers. UM....where are they now? All of those mofos were drafted before TP. The only player picked after TP that has an impact on todays game is Agent Zero Gilbert Arenas. So yeah... ING ORIGINAL POSTER. THINK.
“Nobody really knew who he was, and probably even now some people don't know who he is,” Popovich said. “A lot of people found out about him because of Orlando.”
When Houston took French forward Nicolas Batum at No. 25, there was much rejoicing in the Spurs' war room.
Sounds like the Spurs knew who he was .... man its too bad George hasn't sold himself to the beer drinking fans yet.
Don't worry. It'll take a couple games and there won't be anyone who didn't know he was a solid pick.
Lots of teams passed up CDR and Chalmers.
Chalmers is an undersized shooting guard, while CDR is another potential Chris Carrawell.
Spurs addressed a NEED in backup point guard with a potentially damn good point.
we shall wait on george hill. he may have something. and the 3 percent body fat is ridiculous, he must be a hard worker if he eats so many hershey bars. he shot 55% from the field, 45% from 3 and averaged over 20, 5 and 5. not bad. I would have preferred CDR but we did get a slasher(hairston) and another athletic guy (gist). Thank goodness we got rid of that lithuanian guy...
haha ducks is getting straight murdered tonite...he has been told on 2 threads i have seen so far...
The guy played against some other high draft picks in college from what th articles say. How'd he do?
It does appear that he is able to score the basketball in a variety of ways - inside or outside. He also looked able to change direction and be tricky with the ball.
Drafting at 26, there will be holes in just about anyone's game taken there.
The Spurs biggest problem seemed to be a lack of players who can create their own shot.
Hill appears to have that ability. We'll see.
I like the fact that SA now has at least three #2s next year. Perhaps they can recoup that #1 they gave away for Thomas. At worst there will be three things for the site posters to complain about.

More like at best.
somebody took the time to do this lol http://www.the26thpickofthedraft.com/
I googled "george hill"
that website makes no sense at all.

It does seem that Popovich was really intent on getting this guy, and he may have really seen something good about this kid during pre-draft camp in Orlando.
Anyways, we have addressed 2 positions with this draft. Solid backup point guard, and a player in the forward position.
The picks may not be bad at all.
When pop likes a kid, it usually turns out good.
Josh Howard, Raja Bell, Udonis Haslem....

i wasnt feeling Hill at first seeing as who else was available but after some research it seems he is a decent pick and addresses the spurs needs.
For all who doubt Pop and RC's pick, I just have one question for you all: do you professionally evaluate George Hill during his work-out?
In Pop We Trust.
That 91 isn't out of a 100, lol. Regardless, I'm just so done with this team. I'm ready to gear up for some Longhorn football.
I was never completely sold on Chalmers because I don't trust 2-guards in college converting to NBA point guards.
Hill is no different. He played the 2 in college. Just because he's short and had to play point at draft camps this guy is now a real point guard behind Parker?
To be fair, I didn't draft Marcus Williams at 33 like RC.
Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
Mario Chalmers is this years Jamaal Tinsley.
You'll be missed.
Like Scola.
Lol, he must have been thinking Pop will miss him![]()
i'm with you on this one. Nobody in here has probably ever seen this guy play, i'm sure the spurs know what they're doing. Just have some faith in a team that has won 4 championships. They gonna pick up a FA thats an athletic wing
