I agree with you about Argentina.

Bigger problem for Argentina right now that the 2014 Argentina and 2016 Portugal had was elite defense. This "defense" from the current Argies is absolutely shocking.


France could comfortably put 3 or 4 past this squad if Mascherano has a repeat performance.

Unfortunately Uruguay is where it ends for Portugal. As i've said before, all the chances wasted by Iran and Morrocco vs Portugal will now start being converted, as they start to face better teams and finishers. Diego Costa toyed with the portuguese defense, expect Suarez to do the same. Ronaldo basically would have to go supernova every game from here on out to have a shot, which is not feasible with his team parking the bus and Ronaldo not seeing much of the ball.

The France vs Argentina match-up doesn't have a lot of history. They only met twice at the World Cup (1930, 1978); both matches won by the Argies..

Spain about to luck out big time with their WC backet. Brazil and Germany could well end up in the top half (along with URU/POR, ARG/FRA) if they finish 1st and 2nd respectively in their groups, which the most likely scenario right now..

If I were Brazil I would play for a draw against Serbia in order to slip into the softer bottom half of the bracket if the Germans are locked into 2nd place earlier in the day.

Frenchies are soft, tbh... it's true this ARG team inspires zero confidence, but they have it easier than Portugal, IMO.
