seems like by all accounts the entire peat family is pretty tight, and not only would he play with his brother at NU, but the family could all go out to see games and see both play. i've always felt all along it was uphill battle all along with nebraska due to this. hopefully a strong close to the season and a official visit will at least get us in the running.
UT needs to get him and his family back on campus to have a shot. I've never been able to put the Horns ahead of Nebraska because of his brother being there. I'm not convinced that UT is out of the running or anything like that, but the rumors on Peat this week could be a reason why the staff is scrambling for OLs right now. I hope I'm wrong and it's just Searels being extra thorough with his evaluations.

QB Gunner Kiel of Columbus, IN is opening up his recruitment. He hasn't officially decommitted from Indiana yet, but he's unofficially visiting Notre Dame this weekend for the USC game. It will be interesting to see if OU will still pursue him considering they took QB Trevor Knight once he went off the market.

Per Hook 'Em 24/7, Bo Davis went to Shreveport Woodlawn earlier this week to see DE Torshiro Davis. He was supposedly there for about three hours just visiting.

More interesting news on QB evaluations...both Bryan Harsin and Stacy Searels went by Tatum this morning to see QB/ATH Jalen Overstreet. Harsin will also be at the beginning of Overstreet's game this evening before driving to Carthage. UT has supposedly been in touch with Overstreet for the past two weeks and they are recruiting him at QB exclusively. His coach believes UT's interest is pretty serious.

I hope he worked on 2013 DT Chris Robinson while he was at Woodlawn.

Very interesting. Some smart analysts have projected Overstreet as a OLB at the next level.

**Bo Davis visited Elysian Fields earlier this week to see 2013 DT Isaiah Golden. The staff is attempting to get him to Austin for the Kansas game next weekend and there is talk that he'll be assured an offer in February. Texas A&M has yet to offer.

**Harsin and Searels also visited Henderson this morning to see QB Del Barnes.

lol Dalton Santos. Dude just got thrown out of the game for repeated unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Both could have been avoided. What a dumb .

Stacy Searels also made the Dallas Jesuit/Lake Highlands game last night in Richardson. 2013 OL Kent Perkins was "very happy" that he was able to come by. Perkins is a first Junior Day offer and a must get for the next recruiting cycle.

Where wasn't Stacy yesterday? Does he have the Ed Orgeron Atlanta traffic bustin' chopper?

And he'll be in Mississippi this weekend. Love it. The guy is doing everything he can to find one or two more elite OTs in order to create depth along that line.

I can't believe what I'm seeing. Texas offered a freakin' JUCO. This gives me hope that Bo Davis will eventually offer DE Denico Autry. We need a speed rush DE in the worst way.

JUCO OT Hawkins receives Texas offer

    October, 22, 2011

AUSTIN, Texas -- Offensive tackle Donald Hawkins (Senatona, MS./Northwest Mississippi JC) told HornsNation he received an offer from the Longhorns earlier today.

Hawkins, who is committed to Oklahoma State, got a visit from Texas offensive line coach Stacy Searels this weekend, which is when the offer took place.

Hawkins, 6-foot-4, 320-pounds, also has offers from Florida, Georgia, South Florida, Kansas State, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Southern Miss.

He committed to the Cowboys on Aug. 4.

If offering JUCO players is what it takes to get our OL back to being decent, so be it.

Really is just a concession of how pathetic the o-line recruiting has been over the last few years.

i think it's more a change in philosophy, as i expect we'll also offer denico autry if we haven't already.

i'm also afraid it may be indication of pessimism on other OL recruits on the target board.

Greg Brantley's early senior film is filthy. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gnii59j0IJE . The guys at 247 have gone from "body shaping" concerns on Brantley to "he's a future NFL player." I'm not going to say he's better or a more important recruit than Peat, but Brantley can sure as help Texas right away.

This the only film I could find out Donald Hawkins: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRJfvXDiAR0 . The video quality is pretty poor, we'll just have to trust Wickline's evaluation. The guy knows what he's doing. Coach Searels was a great hire for Texas, but there's a reason why Wickline got serious consideration.

Honestly, I think Texas should probably take both Brantley and Hawkins if they can get them. Hawkins would almost certainly be a starter immediately, and Brantley would definitely be in the mix.

I also like Tre'von Armstead, multiple eye witnesses have placed Major at Armstead's game on Friday. Armstead has left tackle written all over him, but I think he's a few years away. He's a little raw right now, while Brantley and Hawkins seem ready to go.

Texas should stay on Peat, but they also need to cover their asses. We need quality bodies at OL right now. If Hawkins can qualify, get him in spring ball and enjoy a book end OT for 2 years. His comments about Texas and their interest in him have been overwhelming positive.

**Good news. OL/DL Arik Armstead supposedly told a Rivals reporter this weekend that he'll be visiting Austin next month. I imagine he'll be on campus for Texas Tech (Nov. 5th) or Kansas State (Nov. 19th) if it all works out.

**Bo Davis was in Lufkin this weekend to see DT Tomme Mark. UT requested film on him recently and he's considered a contingency plan at this point.

2013 WR Jacorey Warrick of Cypress Falls has picked up an offer from Utah. I think he's one of a handful of kids that are all Texas with an offer. Despite playing WR in high school, the staff had him work a little DB at one of the June summer camps. Not quite sure what position he'll be recruited for, but I think UT gives him a solid look. His father (think it might actually be his stepfather) played in the UT band.

"If they pick up the recruiting they would fit right in because my dad went to UT so I'm kind of biased to them a little bit," he said. "But I'm keeping my options open."

More on this...despite Stacy Searels being the one to call and offer Armstead last week, UT is recruiting him for the defensive line. In addition to that, one of UT's assistant coaches for basketball, Russell Springmann, called Armstead shortly after Searels did to talk about playing for the team. Last week this seemed like a recruitment that wouldn't go very far, but it's apparent that UT is taking this pretty seriously. Armstead's father is currently saying that UT will "definitely get a visit."

Armstead's father said he would take officials to Texas, Alabama and USC. He already took official to Notre Dame for USC game.
