I'm starting to think it might be DT Jordan Elliott.
He would be my guess as well. I thought it was interesting that he changed into a UT shirt after speaking privately with Strong and staff.

But the problem with Elliott is this would be his third commitment before his senior year even begins.

I think he's the kind of kid that gets caught up in excitement and could change his mind when he wakes up the next morning. We'll see.

So "the single most productive recruiting event" Higdon has ever been to produced zero commitments over the weekend? Haha, okay, got it.

This whole "silent commitment" thing screams of screwjob a la Lampkin. Forgive me for being skeptical.

Maybe it was productive to him. Got to meet connections, met prospects, etc.

Taking it that way is even sadder! Hahah, it'd be a pretty lousy reporting job to Tweet out "hey everyone, I made a zillion connections at Strong's recruiting event! Thanks Charlie for bolstering my career!"

But yah, it's ambiguous. And plays straight into our crazy feeding frenzy that is recruiting news.

2017 WR Camron Buckley of Cedar Hill talks about receiving a UT offer (24/7):

“I just displayed what I could do,” Buckley said. “After that, I talked to Coach Strong. I really liked him. I like his personality. He told me that I would be getting a call with some good news.”

“I didn’t want to leave my phone,” Buckley said. “When my coach texted me to call Coach Traylor, I got really excited. I called him, and he offered me. He told me that I did really well at the camp and to stay humble.”

“I’m interested in all colleges that offer me,” he said. “But I grew up watching Texas. It’s a dream come true to get an offer from them. I really like what they’re doing with the offense and how they treat their student athletes.”

Update on S Chris Brown of Alief Elsik after attending "Under the Lights" on Saturday evening (24/7):

“Texas is a really good school,” Brown said. “I really liked the coaching staff. I felt nothing but good vibes while I was up here. It’s everything you look for in a school. There is no doubt Texas is one of my top schools. I just have some analyzing to do.”

“Not really (thinking of committing),” Brown said. “I’m going to be patient and play it by ear. I want to make sure I’m comfortable doing it. I’m not sure when I want to make a decision. I just want to take my time.”

“Coach Strong is a great dude,” Brown said. “We had a really good conversation. Everything is always good when I talk to Coach Strong. We have a lot of neutral vibes. I really liked everything he had to say.”

    LOL

None of us have any idea how productive or unproductive the camp was. For all we know Charlie might have gone home and cried, or he might have gone home and humped his old lady in celebration.

What I do know is the reports coming back are glowing.

When I make BBQ I don't stop in the middle and toss it away and call it a failure, I finish it, and taste it and then decide if I was successful or a failure.

This is a marathon, not a sprint, the finish line is not July 20, it's the first Wednesday in February. That is the day we will be deciding if we are successful or failures.

Here are the facts as I seem them. Texas held it's UTL camp and it was attended by some of the top players in the state/country. Every interview I have seen has been nothing but excellent reviews regarding the event and the experience at Texas.

The pictures of the event also showed a lot of kids, having a great time, again something that should be noted.

Now, I don't put a lot of stock in silent commitments, but there is a lot of guys that were there saying the same thing, so I will wait and see just like everyone else.

Cosign. Great post, Vito. The event was definitely a success, just not one where you will see any immediate payoff due to the nature
of recruiting these days plus the way Coach Strong appears to set the pace WRT recruiting. Long gone are the days of snagging
9-10 recruits in a single day of camp, junior days, UTL or any other recruiting event.

The defections from the Big 12 (Texas) have already cost the conference at least one BCS National Championship berth and a playoff berth to boot. Probably cost LSU a national le as well.

Strong talks about UT's future when it comes to conducting satellite camps in other cities (24/7):

“We're going to get involved,” Strong said Monday morning during his press conference at the Texas High School Coaches Association convention in Houston.

"It's a recruiting tool right now and what happens when you have these camps is you're able to go into cities, even if young man doesn't work out, if you get him to come and he has a chance to see your coaches work,” Strong said. “You can get a lot of recruits there.”

“We thought about it and we had some dates set, but what happened was it was just so late,” Strong said. “Sometimes the later you get into July a lot of the high schools are starting their camps. You don't want to get it to where you're crossing paths with them and give them a chance to get their players in place.”

I should see his dad on Thursday. I'll see what I can find out.
