The long-awaited football series between the Texas A&M Aggies and Oregon Ducks is off.
Aggies athletic director Eric Hyman exercised a clause in the series contract that could void the agreement if the Aggies switched conferences, FOX Sports reported Thursday, and Texas A&M moved from the Big 12 to SEC in 2012.
Craig Pintens, Oregon senior associate athletic director for communications and marketing, confirmed Thursday afternoon that Texas A&M withdrew from the series via its change-of-conference clause.
"We are disappointed in Texas A&M's decision," Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said in a statement. "We want to continue to provide marquee non-conference matchups for our fans. Scheduling is very difficult and when a team cancels a game we need to work even harder to find a suitable replacement."
The series was scheduled in 2009 as a top non-conference opponent for each school but with the Ducks' continued success, combined with A&M's rise in popularity behind coach Kevin Sumlin and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel -- a former Oregon recruit -- the series rose to marquee status.
One of the architects of the series was then-A&M athletic director Bill Byrne, who was also Oregon's athletic director from 1982-92.
It isn't the first time the Aggies have backed out of a series with a premier Pac-12 opponent. In 2013, one year after he took over as AD in College Station, Hyman opted out of a 2015-16 series with USC -- a deal that also had been reached in 2009 -- citing the uncertainty of switching to the SEC.
With the Aggies off the schedule, the Ducks' only non-conference opponent on the books for 2018 is Bowling Green, with Nevada in 2019, per fbschedules.com.
The Ducks retain high-profile home-and-home matchups with Nebraska (2016 and 2017) and Ohio State (2020 and 2021).
Typical scheduling conflict. A&M realized they only have three conference games at home in year 2018 and asked Oregon to flip locations/years in '18/'19 to gain another home game for season ticket holders. Oregon declined so A&M dropped. A&M will add another top program to the schedule to take the place of Oregon in the coming days.

Actually, i wouldn't blame them for scheduling pansies every year in ooc.
Get those 3 easy wins and then you only need to won 3 conference games to be bowl eligible
Clemson
Aggy scared after being exposed as not SEC-ready
not Pac12-ready
never won in 100 years
77-0
59-0
Exactly. At this point, Aggy knows they only exist as a punching bag and recruiting showcase for Alabama, Auburn, and LSU, so it's back to the old Big 12 6-6 moral victories... WHOOP!
They are happy to be punching bags except to Texas
Did you ever figure out how college overtime works?
You're an Aggyfan?
Are you???
Don't dodge the question . Did you ever figure out how college overtime works??? Or are you still oblivious??
Did you figure out pro QBs are no longer in college conferences? Or are you oblivious?
Dumbjohn
Talks about every team but Texas
Doesn't understand basic overtime strategy
Thinks you should go on offense first in college overtime
Thinks you should go on defense first in pro overtime
Calls you a "re " if you disagree with him
The only one on this site who doesn't get it
Runs and hides whenever I talk about it

What!!!!! Pro QBs are not still in college??? You're kidding me, right? 1/10 comeback tbh....I mean seriously dumbjohn....seriously?? That's your big comeback? It took you 15 minutes to come up with that? No dumbjohn...only someone as dumb as you would even remotely think that Pro QBs still play in college conferences. (Or even bring it up as a comeback)
Now...stop dodging the question? Did you ever figure out what side you should choose first in college and pro overtimes?
Man that is harsh.
That was a really sad deal.
S&B melting down. Per the usual. Par the course.
Seems to me like he's taking your re ed ass to the woodshed. You have no response to his simple question so you go with some regurgitated ST lingo.
lol re
Awesome comeback, dumbjohn. You really showed me!
Do you pick defense or offense in OT if you're a college coach?
always fun to make light of aggy backing out of big games, but the bonfire joke is pretty tasteless imo
dumbjohn...showing his ignorance. Per the usual. Par the course. Still dodging the question.
For the 24th time....Did you ever figure out which side to choose first in both pro and college overtimes? Cause last time I checked...you had both of them wrong and were calling the coach of Arky a re . BTW dumbjohn...Bret Bielema has forgot more about football than you and I will ever know. (Well you for sure)
Just do us all a favor...leave the football threads to the people who actually understand the rules/strategy. Stick to the NBA Forum......
