Kind of interesting: After talks on a new contract stalled, a sign-and-trade with the Phoenix Suns was presented. The deal featured the Spurs getting center Tyson Chandler in exchange for Simmons, but at the last minute, the Spurs backed out of the trade, not wanting to take on the remaining two years and roughly $26 million on Chandler’s deal.

Turning down 9M (at least twice the amount he's worth) to go elsewhere kind of makes it sound like he's just another player who didn't want to play in San Antonio.

Rudy Gay, PJ Tucker, Derrick Rose, and Tyson Chandler. Jesus Christ. All these scrubs PATFO were legitimately interested in are completely cancerous.

I don't know about the $9M offer, but if this is true, Simmons requested that the Spurs pull his QO. Either he really believes that he can get more than the Spurs would pay, or he just doesn't want to play here. Maybe the Spurs made some sort of insulting offer?

"According to league sources, Simmons’ representatives then spoke with Spurs officials late Wednesday in Las Vegas, where it was requested he become an unrestricted free agent. The team granted the request Thursday morning, the last day teams can pull qualifying offers"

No, more impact because that's what the numbers indicate.

Both better than Simmons, tbh. At least they got drafted and didn't need to pay to play in the NBA.

Ah, then we agree that Parker was better than Ginobili because he was NBA-ready and drafted in the first round.

If numbers would indicate that Parker is a better player than Ginobili I would agree, but they don't.

They do, and it isn't even close. Parker is Top 10 and 5 in playoff scoring and assisting. At least Manu is Top 5 in your heart

I think he can still be a solid player, but I wouldn't want to have $26 million tied up to him over the next couple of years.
