No, he couldn’t have. He’s a better actor than Will, but he’s never been interested in connecting with audiences & fans like Will Smith did. His comedic style is also too mean-spirited and not as broad as Will’s. But he could have come closer than anybody else.

Any other actor (or wannabe actor) could have done the movies Will did. There's a reason they didn't. Jamie Foxx has his own level of fame, it doesn't rival Will Smith's fame. Anyone could have done any of the movies anyone else has done. The large majority of these other people would have been really bad investments by the producers. Many of these films were written with Will Smith in mind.
