Didn't see it posted here
Seemed contract was too high for them to match but he was happy he developed and got a good deal.

I was never a Kyle fan because no matter what his foot speed and athleticism will always hold him down (and he's a ty bruin), and the mofo still can't shoot a damn 3...but my god would I have loved taking his deal over poo gasses
Of course.. I knew if he played decently Spurs would let him go. They have done that with so many young players recently. It wasn't a surprise.
Pop is a nice guy, tbh.... If Kyle moved the needle, the Spurs would've matched and he would've stayed with the Spurs... he's just isn't very good.
People seem to forget it was a much different market last season.
Spurs need reliable shooters and Kyle wasn't that. Pop being very political with the Kawhi situation, I suppose getting ready for his presidential run, but the writing is on the wall that he was a terrible team mate and a coward.
The Spurs could have easily handled the extra couple million per year over Bertans's deal. It's the guaranteed 4th year that killed it, and probably the 3rd too.
I liked Kyle. He has a high basketball IQ. Even though he wasn't quick his defense was solid and he was a solid rebounder. He had good handles and wouldn't turn the ball over. I just think the Spurs felt it was a little too high. Memphis also constructed that contract in a way that also made it a little more difficult for the Spurs to match.
Kyle was exposed last playoffs. Good riddance
He was a decent player but he was not a shooter or scorer his offense was very limited. But I’ll wish him well he at least showed up and was a of a lot better then K-Y this past season.
Pop just tried to play the nice guy. The money would have been fine if Kyle had at least developed a good 3p shot. I mean, Kyle was a very good defender and had a high BBIQ, but his lack of shooting truly hurts him as a player in "our" system. I can understand the decision to let him go.
In hindsight, this may have been a bad move given that Danny Green was also traded. With the current Roster, with both DeRozan and Poetl, it would be better to have Kyle than Pau.
Thread worthy.
I don't think Kyle's absence of 3s hurt his offense as badly as his refusal to take wide open 2s
Disagree. Anderson is much better than Bertans and fits what the team needs now with his perimeter defense. I think the Spurs didn't match due to the 4th guaranteed year, trade kicker, and the fact that the Kawhi deal took so long to hash out.
Shooting, shooting, shooting... DDR upped his assists to more than 5 last year. Murray is our developing pg. Both Cannot shoot which was why Bertans fits better. Kyle is overall better imo.
Pop wasn't gonna give a turd 37million dollars.
All ya bums thought that was a good contract.
Does rocalcio or any other bums owe me money on that one?
Kyle was an overachiever considering his speed and lack of an outside shot. His improvement was already at the top of his limits and with the league going more and more to smaller quicker lineups, his physical limitations and ceiling weren't worth the money to the Spurs. I wish him well and hope he has a nice career ahead of him.
Where all the fathead "fans"?
Memphis, change your Avatar doofus. Show some class for a change
