Putting Bob Cousy in the same starting lineup as Larry Bird, KG and Paul Pierce is as silly as putting Charles Atlas in today's Mr Universe. There's no reason to think Charles Atlas couldn't have juiced and bulked to stupidity, but like Cousy there's simply no reason to think that, even if he did, at his very best, he'd be anywhere close to today's stars. You're adding Cousy based on his attributes, not on his projected growth. His attributes against an comparatively miniscule field of compe ion where some 1st round picks never played a single game, electing instead to teach HS ball.

Back then NBA championship teams were getting schooled by the Harlem Globetrotters. The 1st black man drafted into the NBA went in the 2nd round. Can you imagine today having the entire 1st round nothing but uncoordinated, unathletic white men?
Your premise is that somehow basketball players were so much worse a couple decades prior. Maybe a lot of those guys would've been Division II players by today's standards. But a significant number of them were pro caliber in any generation. Cousy stood out for a reason. Dude led his team to six les in seven years for a reason.

No. This matter has been explained; that I was of the assumption that he misspelled the name.
But unlike you, I didn't look for a victory from it.
    Stop looking for victories, Slob.

Namath played with a bulkier ball and did not have the benefit of all the advancements in sports either (gear, nutrition, field, medical, fitness, etc.).
Just look at football equipment in 90s vs today even.

But Namath was never a great in the first place. He just won a Super Bowl and was a cult of personality from there.

I disagree, if Wayne Gretzky played in the sand volleyball conditions that current players play in nowadays, he'd be the undisputed GOAT. He had quite a leg on him back then, and set the record for # of field goals, no doubt his fastball/slider combination would overpower current hitters today

This video really gets my point across.....

I would prefer a Jo Jo White, Sam Jones, or Danny Ainge over Marcus Smart.
You've went overboard with your fanatical belief in today's players being so much better than those of yesteryear.

    Three HOF'ers >>> Career 37.6 FG Shooter

Actually, Ainge ain't in BB HOF (Should be; but he is in Oregon Sports HOF).
Marcus Smart is having the worst 3-point shooting season in NBA history

Some improvement since 2016, but still.
