Probably because the school system forced us to get it?
Probably because the school system forced us to get it?
so if not for the school system, you would have opted against the polio vaccine in favor of trying to catch polio so that you could wind up with natural immunity?
Polio death rate 5-15%
Covid death rate .5%
Math is your friend
Wrong
There have been deaths of children from the new variant, especially those with pre-existing health issues.
Another bold prediction.
A single fatality will wreck it.
Post your evidence of these dead.children from Omicron
Correct. None of those guys with natural immunity you mention will die. None.
Cheers
case fatality rate of 1.6% in the US.
but putting that aside, we have 800,000 dead americans from this disease in less than 2 years. its not exactly something you can brush off. polio killed like 3k americans in its worst year ever
You asked why a healthy young person would want natural immunity from covid. The answer is because 8ts very survivable.
A better question is, if you have already recovered from it, do you still need to be coerced into being vaxxed?
But no, if I have not already recovered from virus__x__ and it's potentially serious, then I would personally elect for vaccination.
you just said you got the polio vaccine "because the school system forced us"
Right, parents and school system made the decision for me.
but you just said you would choose getting vaccinated in that scenario
That doesn't contradict what I said. But yes I should have said "if true".
Who said anyone tried to get natural immunity? I must have missed it.
I'm sorry, but most of us have never been infected with COVID. If you've had "multiple suspected infections" and you're still suspected to be infected again, you probably need to re-examine your lifestyle.
about 200 million americans out of 330 million have been vaccinated. we have had about 50 million confirmed covid cases (and there is an overlap there). we probably have over 100 million people in the US who have not had covid and are still refusing to get vaccinated.
dno what happened to formatting there
Not sure but it could start a fad.
OK for the explanation, it doesn't answer the question. Who here ITT said it?
Three types:
1. Vaxxed
2. COVID survivors - some antibodies, won't get vaxxed
3. never had COVID, won't get vaxxed
number 3 is the problem. number 2 could be better. Maybe stop conflating number 2 with number 3.
how are you saying I lied to them?
Be specific in backing up your claim.
2 and 3 are different
2, at this point, is a less dangerous group (though we've seen that even natural immunity is waning with time), but even they could bolster their level of immunity by getting vaccinated. that provides more protection to them, and by extension, the general public
the only way group 1 could bolster their immunity would be to get the disease, which is not a reasonable ask
Group 2 is no more dangerous than group 1.
Follow da science thang
Cheers
group 1 has taken all reasonable steps to mitigate damage. group 2 has not. its not a measuring compe ion to have more immunity than your neighbor. its about a collective effort to promote public safety
