He got elbowed by Zach Randolph.

LOS ANGELES - Shareef Abdur-Rahim's name is the latest to be added to the Sacramento Kings' injury report.

Abdur-Rahim suffered a broken jaw in the third quarter of Monday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers and is expected to be sidelined indefinitely, the Kings announced Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Abdur-Rahim met with oral surgeon Dr. Brian Royse earlier Tuesday, but a decision on the procedure to repair the fractured mandible bone is not expected until Wednesday.

Signed as a free agent by Sacramento this offseason, Abdur-Rahim is averaging a team-best 16.5 points and shooting a career-high 54.7 percent from the field this season. He also owns averages of 6.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 35.4 minutes.

Abdur-Rahim's injury is the latest blow to the Kings, who snapped a five-game losing streak Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers but still are riddled with injuries.

All-Star forward Peja Stojakovic has been in and out of the lineup the last week with a bulging disk in his lower back, while starting guard Bonzi Wells is expected to miss several more weeks with a groin strain.

Originally the third overall pick by the Vancouver Grizzlies in 1995, Abdur-Rahim has averaged 19.7 points and 8.1 rebounds in 699 career games with Vancouver, Atlanta, Portland and Sacramento.

Ouch. Sucks to be the Kings right about now. They managed to win tonight though against the Clippers.

Kings only have Bibby & Miller now.

I never liked SAR's game. He doesn't move well without the ball. He plays terrible defense. I actually think Kenny Thomas should be starting though Sacramento still is not that good.

The Nets are probably feeling very good about their decision right not to sign SAR right now. They were right. He is prone to injury.

Yes, they could have had a legitimate low post presence that would have greatly improved their chances in the playoffs versus the current Marc Jackson, but now they would have continued to cut paychecks to an injured player.

Q: Ladies and gentlement, DO YOU NEED YOUR JAW TO PLAY BASKETBALL?!

    A: NO!

And now, we have another reason why SAR is a scrub player! (Hey! The Jail-Blazers dug their own hole when they traded Sheed to Atlanta for SAR...Atlanta, being the dumbasses they were (and probably still are), traded the Human Technical Foul to Detroit at the trade deadline, on a season that just happened to coincide with winning the NBA Championship! SAR also flunked a trade physical when he got traded to the Nets, forcing SAR to sign with Sacramento!)

    Zach is a mean s.o.b..
Funny how a comment like that is coming from you, when your favorite team is listed as the JAIL..err, I mean, TRAIL Blazers! Aren't you gonna defend them?!
