I haven't had Whataburger in over a decade. I don't remember their burgers being anything special at all.
Don't remember it being much better than a cafeteria burger.

In N Out is a much better burger, but their fries are godawful, borderline inedible. You have to get them well done to make them just mediocre.

Whataburger’s burgers are overrated, but the A1 burger and the patty melt are fantastic. The fries are solid but not amazing, however the y ketchup is a gamechanger tbh.

The fact that a Whataburger drive thru is slow as molasses, and you’ll probably be sitting there for 20 minutes or more, is a huge minus. At least in Texas, In-N-Out drive thrus are way faster.

Overall I prefer Whataburger slightly for better variety & fries, but In-N-Outs burgers are way better.
I love animal fries personally but they are definitely not for everybody.

It’s basically universally accepted in the culinary world that fresh cut potatoes are terrible for making french fries.
Be a lot beter if they did the basic trick of letting them sit in water for at least half an hour. Hate their fries, but I try to go at least every other week

Yea, they have a cult following.
For not a whole lot more money, I'd rather have chilli cheese fries from Del Taco.
But I don't like animal fries in the first place.

You have to get the fries at in n out animal style. They're dry af for that very reason. The little grilled onions really make it.

Agreed. In and Out has the fastest drive thru service for a made-to-order joint. You will get out of an In and Out line that is wrapped around the building before you get out of a Whataburger line with 5 cars.

Probably the best service overall. Whataburger seems to be staffed by Andys that are clueless.

I was amazed. The cashier was a skinny light skinned brother. He was embarrassed cause the gals around him heard all the goings on.
Really I was amazed how simple it was and how badly the drive thru cashier screwed it up.

Yea, a lot of times they look quite capable (regardless of race or gender).
For what it's worth, they have often have skills we don't have (like computer graphics).

In terms of calculating cash, doesn't occur often in the States. I notice my Math skills a difference with Time and geometric angles & shapes. The existence of percentages and interest.

In-N-Out is all hype. I ate that and it wasnt any better or worse than Whataburger. I go to hole in the wall, mom and pop places to get my burgers. They are cheaper and taste way, way, way better. These two places throw their meat on the grill with a bit of salt and pepper. The places I hit fold seasoning into the meat and it just kills it on the flavor. In-N-Out and Whataburger dont stand a chance.

I think this has to do with the variety that WB offers. If everyone ordered burgers and fries, I'm sure it would go much quicker. But if it's 11 PM and you've got people order everything from burgers, to chicken sandwiches (grilled and fried), to taquitos, I'm sure that makes it more difficult on the Andy behind the grill.

One aspect I love about InNOut in comparison to for example 5 Guys. The bun. And I think it is because they don't enclose wrap the burger. This way it remains fluffy. Wrapping makes it soggy.
