Quite possibly the best poster to join this site since . . . wait for it . . . me.

As much as I disliked the 76ers package, it was better than the they accepted for that very reason.

Then they could have sold off Aldridge for whatever the they could get (not a lot; probably something like Nurkic signed and traded, Harkless and a 1st), kick started a potentially accelerated re-build and at least had a bevy of desirable, if not marquee, assets. Still, slink down to the bottom for a year or two, hope to draft something resembling a tentpole player and at least have a roadmap to the future.
Disagree. I think they needed talent and got it and DeRozan is still an asset. I think IF SA wanted to move DeRozan he has very solid value.

Which team do you see giving away real value for a player with an archaic style of play such as DeRozan?

Saric and Covington are talent; just complimentary types. But they're the types of role players you find on championship teams. DeRozan isn't the type of star you do and can't play a complimentary role to those who could be that.

Now obviously, getting that is easier said than done. But constricting themselves to ill-fitting, aging stars, with a poorly constructed roster surrounding them, isn't going to give them the short term success they're desperate for or (barring lottery luck) prime position to draft the type of player who could play a featured role on a championship team.

DeRozan has low value. Only teams with the same aspirations and market limitations would have interest. This group includes: Hornets, Pistons, Grizzlies, Pelicans (desperate to land a star to appease Davis). Even then, the offers would probably be a B prospect or young player, requisite salary filler and a lottery protected 1st.

Big three still on the roster, Kawhi an emerging superstar. Good times. The downward spiral has been rough but it's only going to get worse I'm afraid.
