Really sad news but not unexpected tbh considering the tape on the play.

    Some thoughts:

    - We are now 4 seasons in and we still don’t have definitive proof that the DJ/DW backcourt can be a force together long term. I’m in the optimist camp but with many mitigating factors in play, what’s the expiration date on this?

    - DDR is going to have potentially a really strong end to the season. Think we’re talking similar to how he’s played the last week or so. Could be a contractual nightmare for many reasons in the Off-season.

    - Vassell and Lonnie get a chance to show us their skills in must perform to win games. Won’t be able to take games off or accrue DNPs for the remainder of the season if Spurs are going to make the play-in/playoffs. Definite silver lining to this. In fact, probably the only one…

White on a 24 minute limit a la Ginobili should be the plan going forward
Nah. He had surgical recovery that cost him the beginning of the season, can’t be blamed for catching covid, and is just now actually injured.

it's definitely coming. No team in their right mind would pay Defrozen and popovich loves to give away money to players that can't do in games or are washed up.

Is the team still planning to make the playoffs without D White? It's still possible but without White, defense is poopoo

I don’t think White is injury prone. There’s not much he can do when it comes to catching Covid or rolling his ankle. That can happen to anybody. The only concern is the plantar facitis thing. I think the Murray/White combo will look a lot better with DeRozan gone, where they can get more usage. The one thing that White is missing is an elite big man though. He just gets bigs easy shots and buckets and Poeltl ain’t that good of a scorer.

He has the most complete game of any guard on our roster. The cheers were warranted. Over the next dozen or so games, you’re going to see exactly what White means to this team.
    Bumping this for truth.

It's absurd that anyone would think it's a bad extension.

They can trade him for a pick and an exception anytime they want this summer. Teams would LOVE to have him.

Lauri Markannen is trash and has a chance to trick a dumb team like San Antonio into a similar sized deal, and he really is injury prone with his syndromes or fatigue, is a terrible defender, and had lost his spot on a lotto team in the East.

Remember when folks used to say Manu was injury prone? This is what injury prone really looks like, tbh.

Did we ever get an actual announcement on what the severity of the injury was? I know Pop said he was out for the season, but it seems strange to me that the Spurs did not post any official information on their page.

Could he come back in the playoffs? Play-in is in two weeks and some change.

If it’s a high ankle sprain, well, that Kept LeBron out for like 6 weeks.

Whites extension hasn’t even kicked in yet but apparently an ankle sprain during a lost season after he looked like our most complete player is cause to trade or cry about 17 million dollars that could have gone to some 10 year veteran taking too many shots off the bench

    pathetic
