FSU athletic department is currently in transition. The current AD is a business man first with little athletic managing experience. Probably aided in dumping Taggart ad he saw the financial cost of lose in ticket sales and overall revenue possibly outweighted Taggart's buyout. Tallahassee local business is heavily reliant on the success of the football program.
But if the scenario above is true then I am very impressed.
