If we waive Bonner, we will have 5 bigs, 7 wings, and 3 PG's, whereas if we wave Butler, we will have 6 bigs, 6 wings, and 3 PG's. That's just a fact.

Question : If Bonner is cut/waived, can he be resigned next season? Not that I'd want him back. He was finally useful in the 2014 playoffs, but apart from that season I always thought he played the wrong role and was too high up in the rotation. He should always have been a 4th big that provides floor spacing and when the match up called for it. That was one of the only seasons that I didn't have a problem with him, so thanks for that, Matt, and also thanks for playing a role in the Spurs winning the 2014 Championship.
I thought Bonner was really solid in the 2013 playoffs. Diaw missed the first round series with LA and Bonner did a pretty good job against the Gasol + Howard frontline.

They'll cut Butler and you guys will want blood.
You can't really fault people for being upset if Butler was waived over Bonner.

I'm guessing Butler goes. Simmons is young enough and Martin's shooting makes Butler expendable. Bonner...if LaMarcus got injured Bonner would be in the rotation, esp against the Thunder.

I would rather have Butler than Martin. As a defender and shooter, he's much more useful.

I'd also prefer Bonner to Martin. And McCollum to Miller.

Getting these old, finished players for possibly the greatest regular season record spurs team of all time doesn't really make sense to me.

He was pretty good that year, and 2014 against OKC obviously he played a role.

I don't get the hate for the guy from some people on here. He improved his post defense a ton.

Can't help but feel bad for Butler. Didn't think I could hate Bonner even more but I was wrong. Still it makes sense for PATFO in terms of having a balanced number of bigs and wings.

THIS. As much as I would hate to waive Butler, if LA or Diaw gets injured, Bonner is your 4th big to stretch the floor.

Not a very reliable source imo. Sounds like speculation reading the article. Manu getting healthy could of saved Bonner's ass though.

ESPN should make a 30 for 30 on the dirt Bonner has on the Spurs organization, tbh..

Though it's a likely scenario, that guy is such a tryhard. Doesn't do any reporting, just repeats what other accounts have said. The CBS thing doesn't really explain it either. They just think Butler is the guy and that's it.

I'd love to waive him instead of Butler/Bonner but it's not going to happen. Becky is in love with him

Seriously though this is the only logical explanation. Pop accidentally sent him nudes 6 years ago and he's been holding the Spurs hostage ever since.
