I don't know about that one, but they've been planning a new theater on 281 north of Bulverde road for a while.

I honestly only go to the movies a couple times a year at most, but it would suck to see Santikos go under.
That's def the new hot spot, straight north where they're extending out 281 multiple lanes. I almost bought a house there 3 years ago and sad I didn't, it probably went way up in value

Home theater = big LED TV and surround. It doesn't mean you literally put a theater in your home. You can do that for about 2K or less, or more if you feel like sound suppression and some goodies like projectors and such.

A pool is like 70K and the 2nd story is like 130K or so, depending.
I just did a full home theater for about 5k, with everything. Definitely worth it if you like watching movies/good TV shows and have space to pump up the volume on a 7.2 system

Any plans to go with Atmos eventually?

    My setup was under 2K.

    BenQ projector
    Pioneer receiver
    Monoprice speakers
    Panoview 110" screen

No, don't want to tear up my ceiling. Just had electrician over to install cat 6 in some rooms and they tore up the drywall to fish wires through. Patching multiple holes in drywall/texturing/sanding/repainting is super annoying.

    Nice big screen.

    I got the following

    Onkyo TX-NR-696 AVR
    Sony 4k blu ray player
Sony 7.2 with powered towers for the front L/R, Sony subs
    65" Sony 950G LED TV
    Roku Ultra for 4k streaming

I got a LG OLED 2 years ago and it had burn in issues after I would watch RedZone (after the games are over they show a logo screen), so wanted the best non-OLED. Sadly my entertainment center can only fit a 65" and I didn't want to do a full projector / take-over-a-room setup so this is in the living room.

Feel you on that. Why I'm reluctant to do Atmos.

    Nice gear

If I had it to do over again, I would probably just opt for a large LED TV. Projectors are kind of a pain in the ass, tbh.

Most definitely. Houses on postage stamp lots within an ocean of rooftops are getting crazy expensive in that area.

Yeah that came out weird. I meant The Rim will turn into a cesspool of an old mall the same way Crossroads mall, Ingram Park Mall and North Star were once decent malls. Now they're TOSB status
That has to do more with money moving away from 410 and out past 1604.

Property values all over town have sky rocketed the last few years. Add the covid and this might really be a buyer's market next year.

Good 4k projectors go for upwards of $2-3k. The Sony ones (for homes) go for $10-20K
    that

Why is that? This is mostly for my nephews to watch and me and family get the "movie theatre" fix with popcorn. Tbqh

Ill stick to my 300$ projector

It's still hard to get around up there, even with the extra lanes.

Also not much going on up there except for HEB and Alamo Drafthouse. Restaurants can't make it and there's no mall nearby.

What are you talking about? The place is exploding, and the 281 expansion is still probably a good two years or so away from completion.

Yeah I should have helped some of those crap franchises out by eating there more. Nice burn.
