Ayres by a long shot but Joff sucks too
Honestly, my memory on Ayres is a bit fuzzy, but I really don’t remember him being Joff-awful. Missing dunks? Sure. Blatant open layups back to back? I just don’t remember that.
Thoughts?

Joff is a delusional player. He actually believes that he's Hakeem or Duncan out there as evident by his play in this game.

I miss Dedmon -even if Pop hates him- and David Lee.
They are about the same. Difference is the Spurs had Tim, Tiago, Boris and eventually Aron to put in front of Jeff. Spurs only have Pau and LMA, with the former being old and needing rest games.
Pau airballed layups in the playoffs last year. Joff is not as bad as murray

If I could choose, I would much rather have Dedmon and BP3 than Simmons and Laughverne.
Errors got that name bc he also TO the ball 25% of the time. He had terrible hands. Having said that Chinook is right. Ayres had 4 bigs ahead of him + Bonner that were better so we were spared. His second season even with Tiago injured most of the season Ayres still played just about 250 minutes total and all of it was garbage time.
Problem is they need Joff for more than that.
I agree with Chinook they should have looked at someone a little bit better even for a little bit more. Dedmon isn’t even super expensive right now.

Simmons is the better player but Dedmon is a bigger need. Laughverne is just getting abused and he's not in the rotation by choice but by necessity. The only interior defender on the team is LMA and he's not defending anywhere near the level of a 38 year old Tim Duncan with bad knees.
Joff really harms the team
Ayres was a good 13th man. ST is re ed, tbh.
