I agree. Kawhi!
saying it was a role-player FMVP, saying it was Iguodala type of FMVP aka a joke.
Do you agree with this? I think it's straight up disrespect. They make it sound like it's easy to guard Lebron an entire series while scoring 20+ points. And Lebron was stat padding hard in the finals as well.
Top 4 playoff performance in the last 10 years.
Only
Lebron 16, Durants first championship, Kawhi toronto..tops it.
That's Media keeping Pop safe & warm.
It's arguable that he was already capable of carrying a bigger load in 2014 but that doesn't change the fact that he didn't. The offense wasn't going through him like it did in his last few years in SA/1 year in TOR. The Spurs of that era were known for their beautiful game not Nephew's individual greatness.
Obviously it was a role player FMVP. Anyone who says otherwise is just trying to rewrite history, tbh.
2003 Tim Duncan says hi.
You're a chicken for abandoning Kawhi after you repeatedly said in the past that he was your favorite player, tbh.
It's somewhere in between. It was more impressive than 2015 Iguodala, but nowhere near a top-tier performance.
No. 2013 was. All that needed to happen was for him to have been in the game to collect his last rebound. He only would have needed to make 1 of the 2 ensuing free throws to ice everything. The trophy and champagne were prairie dogging it in the locker room, ready for consumption. But
Basically both the '14 and '15 FMVPs were both out of huge respect to Lebron.
No, you're thinking of 2007.
This. Three great games and two duds is nowhere close to top tier.
Also, LeBron was by far the best player on either team but the media will never give FMVP to someone on the losing team.
Nah.. He deserved it.. He made life hard for LBJ. He probably would have averaged 45 a game that series without Kawhi.. Plus Kawhi had good scoring nights on 3/5 of those games to help further neutralize LeBron's contributions
He also beat OKC, which was the real finals in 2014.
Manu deserved the one in 05 though
for me as mentioned above Duncan 2003 is above kawahi
also 2011 dirk
even 2009 Kobe was better.
Yep. He would've been the oldest player since Kareem to win FMVP.
Unlike Iguodala, Kawhi actually deserved his MVP, but yeah, swap any 3 and D player with Kawhi and the Spurs still probably win that series. In that sense, Kawhi's MVP isn't as relevant as most others in finals MVP history. Heck, Manu was a lot more "valuable" in '05 than Kawhi in '14.
P/S: Kawhi's guarding of Lebron in '14 is one of the most overrated narratives in NBA history. James averaged 30 on 60% shooting.
He wasn't MVP worthy, but Diaw made the beautiful game work tbh
I said this a while back. Diaw could have won mvp since kawahi won it. Diaw was so damn perfect that series. Dude was too smart for Miami
While we all know it, Duncan would have been recognized by quite a few more Casual Phan / Main Stream Media gots with another legit Finals MVP.
