need a 21st century approach to it. most illegal immigration these days consists of people coming legally and then overstaying visas. spending billions for a wall never made much sense. all things considered, not a huge part of the budget. basically just a big federal/social jobs program.

people being convinced it was a necessary step was always baffling... especially absurd were the promises (and belief) that mexico would pay for it
It's not just about illegal immigration. The fact you know the stats on overstayed visas tells me that it's not the same issue as being undo ented.

Pretty sure the visa folks are not undo ented. The overstayed visa thing is the "But Chicago" angle for the left on this issue. If the bigger issue is overstayed visas, it doesn't mean undo ented border crossings isn't a big issue. In order to get a visa, you have to be do ented. I am sure the roads have plenty unlicensed drivers, uninsured drivers.... all of these are separate issues. So no need to bring up do ented illegals to counter measures to prevent undo ented ones.

except the same approach to combat visa overstays can be used to combat illegal crossers... cracking down on employers.

How do you crack down on someone being employed for cash when you have no record of them existing in your country? ICE raids? I think that's happening already.

I am all for cracking down on people not checking citizenship status but it seems the left wants to make it a crime for anyone to ask.

It's not critically important to keep out Mexico's criminals?

My question is a direct response to your statement (and the topic you started). Once again, you retreat into your cuckoon.

    I'll ask you one question.

Do you consider yourself worth a response?

    Yes or no.

More/better monitoring/enforcement (ie: E-verify, cameras, drones, sensors, etc) and less onus in easily breakable physical barriers. I get it, none of the former are as tangible or visible as the latter, thus have less political appeal, but they’re way more effective at curbing both illegal crossings and visa overstays.

Once their visa expires, they are, literally, undo ented immigrants. When it comes to immigration, ‘do ented’ pertains to having valid do entation to be in the United States. While the reason written down for deportation might vary (ie: visa overstay), the process is identical.

dubya/ head spent $5B with IIRC Boeing for electronic border wall, and it was a total failure (Boeing got to keep the $5B).

And I should mention that if overstays would be 10% of illegal immigration, then I can see the ‘but Chicago’ moment, but visa overstays accounted for almost 50% of illegal immigrants a few years back (not sure what is it now).

It’s a big border. I’m not familiar with what that covered, so I can’t comment on it.

    He shamed you.

And I doubt you watched much. You surely put me on ignore because you have no self control.
