at least he's a SF.
at least he's a SF.
It's a shame that is so bad offensively.
Especially with that pump fake of his.
Also he's a Pitt Panther and we don't need another one of those.
Worked against Richard Jefferson.
But seriously I wouldnt mind Sam Young. His offense makes Ime Udoka look like a sharpshooter though.
I'm fairly convinced the Spurs can turn any role player into a three point shooter. If he is a good size and plays decent defense, sign him up. We don't need a star behind Kawhi
I don't know man. He's already up there in age and scoring isn't part of his game.
In his last 2 college years, Young hit a combined 98/260 from behind the arc. That a very respectable .377 3P%.
Maybe, with the help of Chip and if he sticks only at taking corner 3's, which hasn't been the case so far in his NBA career, he could turn into a player who isn't an offensive liability like he was with Pacers last season.
Not that it would be a thrilling acquisition, but given the alternatives the Spurs have worked out so far are either older injury prone players or are borderline NBA players he is probably their best bet for a backup SF.
Another positive note, his shooting mechanics aren't that bad. Confidence in his jumper could do wonders with the skill set he already has.
i always thought he woulda been a better pick than blair. and now the spurs have the pacer ties. i'd like him over pietrus. and he's more of a "spurs" option than beasley.
On the other hand doesn't really have the size to play small ball PF
Height w/shoes 6' 6.75"
Young makes no sense, because if they're fine with an undersized SF, then Pietrus becomes even more of a no brainer than he already is . . . and if they're going to attempt to turn someone considered a solid defender into a respectable corner three-point shooter, then someone with more size is a no brainer.
Aside from that, he was terrified when he received the ball in the last few games of the ECF. This is important because if Leonard or Green suc b to injury in the playoffs, in certain match-ups, they're going to need another wing with some size and defensive capability, in the rotation. Suffice it to say, he can't be trusted.
He's like Bowen, minus the defense...and the three point shot.
In other words he aint worth a damn.........
Not so far.
Last year, Indy was playing 4 on 5 on offense if he was on the floor. Bad is only the point of departure to describe his wretched offense.
His first two years in Memphis were OK, but his last two, he's fallen of an offensive cliff. I wouldn't mind a camp invite to see if they can spark something, but I wouldn't hold out any hope of him actually grabbing the 15th spot.
Would rather go with more height.
y'all can have him
If the Spurs are meeting with Sam Young because they need a third stringer/garbage time player to fill out the roster than I understand. If the Spurs are meeting with Sam Young because they want him as a rotation player than the Spurs have lost their minds.
You'll like hear even more player's names associated with SA in the next few weeks. They'll be looking for training camp players. I think if the Spurs saw a player that could make their rotation, they'd have signed him by now.
Slight edge toChildress in my book.
