of all of those records, most fouls in a season would probably be the easiest one to break.
Best single-season record:
1995-96 Chicago Bulls (72-10)
Greatest team of all time? According to the record books, absolutely. In his first full season back on the court (remember that stint with the Chicago White Sox?), M.J. rode out the Bulls' high expections by leading his team to the finest season in NBA history. Along the way, he notched another scoring le to top Chamberlain's record of seven, three MVP awards (season, All-Star, Finals) and handed Chicago its fourth le. The Bulls' season record broke he 1971-72 Lakers' record of 69 wins in a season.
Most points in a game:
Wilt Chamberlain's 100
The closest anyone has ever come to tearing down this record, which Chamberlain set on March 2, 1962 in the Philadelphia Warriors' 169-147 win over the New York Knicks, was Kobe Bryant (81) on Jan. 22, 2006.
Most championships for a player:
Bill Russell's 11
Eleven les in 13 seasons as a player or coach in the league. Think about that: The only seasons he didn't get the Celtics a ring were 1958 and 1967.
Most points per game:
Wilt Chamberlain's 50.4 points/game (1961-62 season)
In addition to his all-time mark of 100 points in a single game, Chamberlain finished the 1961-62 season with an average 50.4 points per game. His closest compe or was M.J., who averaged 37.1 points per game during his 1986-87 season with the Bulls. Don't expect this Wilt record to ever come down.
Most minutes per game:
Wilt Chamberlain's 48.5 (1961-62)
Let's see, how many records can one man pack into a single season? In addition to averaging 50.4 points a game and dropping 100 points against the Knicks during the 1961-62 season, he also averaged 48.5 minutes a game.
Most seasons leading league in scoring:
Michael Jordan with 10 (1987-93, 1996-98)
Ten times Jordan finished as the league's top scorer. He and Chamberlain are the only players to have won seven straight league scoring les. By comparison, the leaders among active players, Kobe Bryant and Shaq have only done it twice.
Most rebounds in a game:
Wilt Chamberlain's 55
Wilt grabbed 55 boards in the Philadelphia Warriors' loss to the Boston Celtics on Nov. 24, 1960. Bill Russell came close with 49 rebounds (twice) with the Celtics. Dwight Howard's career high is 26.
Most assists in a game:
Scott Skiles' 30
Skiles set the record on Dec. 30, 1990 during the Magic's 155-116 victory over the Nuggets. He broke Kevin Porter's previous record of 29 and went on to earn the NBA's Most Improved Player award that season. No one has reached 28 in the past 15 seasons.
Most personal fouls in a season:
Darryl Dawkins with 386 (1983-84)
The previous year, he set the record with 379 fouls. What's more impressive: "Chocolate Thunder" is also the only NBA player to shatter two backboards in one month during a season (1979) with his massive dunks.
Most career assists:
John Stockton with 15,806 (1984-2003)
In his 19-year tenure with the Utah Jazz, which ended in 2003, Hall of Fame point guard John Stockton put up 5,000 more than the guys second on the list, Mark Jackson (10,323 over 17 years).
Most career points scored:
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 38,387 (1969-89)
Only four NBA players have topped the 30K mark: Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabaar. Abdul-Jabbar's lead is 1,459 points.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mul...content.1.htmlLongest single-season winning streak:
Los Angeles Lakers with 33
(Nov. 5, 1971-Jan. 7, 1972)
The Rockets came the closest with their 22 straight wins in 2008. But they weren't anywhere near the 1971-72 Lakers 33-game mark.
of all of those records, most fouls in a season would probably be the easiest one to break.
almost all of them are pretty untouchable.
fouls? well given how techs have been handed out so far, i definitely wouldn't recommend it
Is Iverson officially retired? Most seasons leading league in scoring:
Michael Jordan with 10 (1987-93, 1996-98)
Ten times Jordan finished as the league's top scorer. He and Chamberlain are the only players to have won seven straight league scoring les. By comparison, the leaders among active players, Kobe Bryant and Shaq have only done it twice.
I think phil's 11 and counting is gonna be pretty hard to break especially when coaches get fired easily
55 boards in one game will never be broken. It was easier for Chamberlain because we was way more physically athletic than everyone out there.
Today, everybody is athletic. You have point guards like Jason Kidd who are capable of getting 10 rebounds any night. On top of that, Gerald Wallace SF was leading the league in rebounds.
^Not now of course, cuz he's makin' like a door nail, but, I'll betcha dollars to donuts that Auerbach wishes he'd a never retired so young.
When Phil whipped out that X Cap after Orlando it all came in focus.
Especially if Mahinmi becomes a starter.
The one of the Clippers franchise
And seriously the Stockton assist one
Probably 32 blocks in a finals series. To do it in 6 games is almost unthinkable tbh.
& John is so satiated over it. Ringless, but, sated.
Also, how many teams have gone, say, 13 (arbitrary number) or so seasons with a winning % of, lets say, .610, which is a 50-win season in a 82 game season...that record seems pretty impressive, anyone know how many teams have done it?
Mib?
What is mib?
Man In Black
Gui with the goods, the greats, and the absolutely wonderfuls, par the course, per usual, par the timing of the seasons, what we've come to expect persay at this household, the commons, the excellence withstanding forthcoming.
It was a driving sea of rain, the Red Sea was forboding, and yet you smited adversity and delivered the ST army through the darkness in this ever so black hour::::::For that I'm ever grateful
Let us proceed, eppe, let us proceed.......
I can no longer part that Red Sea, but, I can still certainly lick the jar, BUMP.
I too think the toughest record to break would be for a team to have 13 straight years of winning 50 games or more. That is a level of greatness never to be achieved by anyone in our lifetime.
^Oh, it's a doozy!
Your signature is actually very flawed. LOS ANGELES Lakers only have 11 championships. Time to change it, son.
Suck it.. !
11 rings for one player (Russell) will never be broken.
The 30 assists in a game will eventually be broken. Too bad Malone got injured and the Lakers screwed him over by diagnosing the injury wrong or else he would've broke the scoring record. I still believe there was a conspiracy against him breaking the record.
He wouldn't sit, Gira. Adamantly refused.
But, I'll second your conspiracy theory. It just came from Stern in New York. The Lakers had nothing to do with it.
