I would agree with Apo here. It's white American male that pushes the 2nd amendment. So of course people concentrate on the weird white guy. I would venture a guess that these types of situations are fairly evenly distributed by ethnicity. We had the two black males in Mayland and the black guy on the NY subway for the weird black shut ins.

Its more about the random kill anyone v. Gang turf wars. People obviously are more concerned with the random crowded spot v. the turf they stay away from. #blacklivesmatter especially when police are involved.
Well, I do think random acts of violence in a crowded public setting do warrant more attention than the more everyday crime like gang violence or domestic violence (though those things need more high level attention on trends, etc.)... But I think it's safe to say a black guy pulling out a gun in a movie theater and shooting random people would spark more of a race debate than a gun debate. A Muslim doing it would spark a debate on Islam and terrorism. Headlines across every news site would be different, and sadly predictable depending on the source.
Random drive by shootings happen all the time.
Those are almost always gang related, and the victims are almost never white. Remember, the successful news hook is always "This could have happened to you!"
