This was always going to be a transition season for Madrid. Will be to interesting see what Florentino does in the summer: either it shows he lost the appe e/drive to win after the CL threepeat or we will see him make few splashes to rebuild a team capable of dominating again in Spain. Now, not when I spoke, tbh. I never gave a personal opinion, tbh, I just stated an objective observable fact.
Last season Madrid lost in Copa del Rey on the QF's and was out of the La Liga race before the winter break.
This has very little to do with the loss of Ronaldo but the inability to go out and find a suitable replacement for him. No team can afford to lose their prime striker of nine years and think it isn't going to have a negative impact on a team's offense. Take Mbappe off PSG or Salah off Liverpool or Messi of Barcelona and it would be the same situation Madrid is facing. RM tried to do a patch job with its in-house players rather than adding a suitable replacement to the existing roster.
