Would be a good move for the guys in blue IMO. Not a difference maker for better or worse, but solid!

Not bad. Gives the Mavs yet another expiring contract to offer in 2010. Also a solid backup PG (who plays quite good defense) that will actually have a chance at having some playing time and contributing to the team, unlike Carroll.

I remember when Banks was negotiating with the Suns and another team a few years back (for his big contract)...he got so upset that his father said he'd locked himself in his bedroom and wouldn't come out.
tee, hee.
Marcus Banks is pretty horrible. But so is Matt Carroll, so who cares.
No one is counting on him to be some quality player or anything. The main focus was the contract details. Way to miss the point, which should be expected in your case.
Raptors have been trying to trade Banks. They know they will probably have to take on a longer deal to shed Banks salary. Kind of funny to see Rasho, Hedo, and now Matt possibly all back together again. Matt's contract is interesting because its cost declines each year, but he shot awful last year!
Obviously he is an expiring contract. My point was that they're both horrible players so who really cares, it's not really interesting news. So yeah, yourself, Phil.
Neither are.
Considering that it's not some sort of breaking news about Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili's latest porn video with each other, I wouldn't expect it to be very interesting to you.
Pretty sexual thinking on your part there.
http://thestar.blogs.com/raptors/According to a couple of league sources and I can't corroborate this with any of my most trusted Toronto folks, Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo's got another deal bubbling, one that would send guard Marcus Banks to the Dallas Mavericks for Matt Carroll, adding a little long-term salary but providing coach Jay Triano with a shooter that he could use deep on the bench.
I'm warned -- and therefore so are you -- that the proposed transaction remains in its relative infancy and if this summer's proven anything it's that nothing's done until it's done...
Banks? Well, Banks never really worked out after being obtained in the Shawn Marion trade last season. He hardly played, was mediocre when he did and then got hurt and missed about the last month of the season.
He didn’t take the team’s suggestion and play in the summer league last month – although he was in Las Vegas to meet with the staff and work out – and the GM’s been trying to deal him for months...
What'd it take Cubby?
$16 million to get him to unbolt the door?
He can't stay away from Marion.
Lol I thought you used to be a pretty laid back poster. Here lately you're nothing but a straight up
lol 4-1
nah, he's always been a hot head.
Not really. Nothing to get butt hurt over.
lol @ you thinking I give a as to what some faceless on the interbutts thinks of my online persona.
Expiring contract or not, why the would Dallas do this?
They've got 3 PG's on the roster, 3.5 if you count Terry. Meanwhile, Josh is a SF playing SG, JET is undersized at the 2, and Quinton Ross may or may not be all that good. We actually need Matt Carroll for the end of our bench, not Marcus Banks.
Unless maybe they're getting things in motion to make a move for Ramon Sessions. Which only makes sense if Barea is part of the deal, since JJ Barea is basically a homeless man's Ramon Sessions.
lol butthurt
I think you might be overreacting a bit to Dallas losing Matt Carroll.
It just makes no sense either way. It's like Donnie Nelson got all this praise for getting a couple expiring contracts and turning it into Marion, so now he's trying to fill the entire roster with expiring contracts. Problem is, he's gotta trade them all now.
This I agree with. If he doesn't turn their expiring contracts into anything, then it was a pointless trade. I also understand Donnie Nelson has done little to earn the faith and trust of Dallas fans.
