Interesting analysis.
Cant argue with science
TD21 get in here
TD 21 finna blow upppp.
Shorten the time frame to the last 5 years I bet we are mid at best.
At least according to the way this guy scores it - the last five years (2016-2020) are actually better than the entire period (2009-2020). From 2009-2020, our average score is 0.36 (2nd best over that period). But from 2016-2020, our average score is 0.53 (don't know how it ranks over the same period - because I don't have time to do the amount of work required to rank all 30 teams).
2016-2020 are really bolstered by 3 picks that are ranked "Excellent" - our 3 #29 picks. DJ, Derrick, and KJ. We had one "Bad" pick (Lonnie) and one "Terrible" pick (Luka).
I think the rankings exclude Undrafted players, so we actually come out 4th from 2016-2020 with a 0.37.
You can play around with the date ranges here in the "Team Rankings" section. If you look at "By Team" you can see how each Spurs pick has been ranked since 2009.

Yeah I should clarify, I think many teams have caught up over the last 4-5yrs. These playoffs were full
of high end contributing players taken late first or the second.
We need to prove something this draft. Last four years:
- 2017: D White was a solid pick at 29: A
- 2018: Walker fell to us for a reason but still not a bad pick IMO: B-
- 2019: Luka, was a reach at the the time but we could afford to reach as we had two FRPs for the first time in quite sometime, can’t deny he was a wasted pick in hindsight: F
- 2019: Keldon fell to us. Luck more than anything else, regardless: A
- 2020: Vassell was an appropriate pick: B
- 2021: Primo was a reach and could have been had later. A year later still looks like a massive reach: C
This draft is going to tell alot about the science
I think we just need to trade down to #29 tbh
Lol……..good for you. I think the grownups will get it right.
Don’t let facts get in the way of an ongoing silly narrative on this board I’ll just sit back and watch……
Right? Or trade 9 for a player and stick to drafting in the twenties where we are more comfortable.
Haha traditionally, we’ve been VERY successful late draft. Can’t deny that.
Spurs = 5 above reproach championships, most consecutive 50 win seasons and tied longest playoff streak in history (in tougher conference/30 team league).
Raptors = 1 tainted championship, constant embarrassing playoff performances and national media schmoozing to pretend they're important.
My dad bounced at a young age also but eventually I forgave him. You need to forgive your daddy Massai; he is just doing his job.
Screwing people, being an arrogant prick and playing the media game aren't part of the job.
The only surprising thing about this article is that they aren’t first. The Spurs have historically been widely regarded as the best drafting front office in the league.
It's possible that when next season starts Orlando could have as many as six lottery picks, nine top-16 selections and 12 first-rounders on its roster.
And still be lead contenders to get next year's #1 pick lol
I think next year the Magic finally improve.
The Fulz trade was a weird one that backfired.
How much? Let's see who they pick.
