Not sure what you're trying to say, can you unpack your own comment to clarify?
What is current status?
Should we send in the Hussars
White people breaking windows with skateboarders while black organizers beg them to stop.
The big organized marches will be today, police ain't staying home -- their job is to protect property and rich people.
When the federal government and local police continue to make it clear they favor property over people's lives and safety, it makes sense that property receives the torch.
Rest in pieces, DAR.
If crowd can behave they get some respect back. Right now losing public opinion.
At least this has knocked the endless Coronavirus coverage out of the top story for once. I guess the threat of corona is over now tbh. Mass gatherings, might as well bring back packed nba arenas fwiw.
Definitely not Eugene antifa
Says you.
Hilarious that the people are supposed to play nice when the police kill people without any accountability and the federal government deemphasizes public health and settles on a policy of mass death in a pandemic to limit the harm to owners and investors.
Tell me, Frost King, when was the last time peaceful protests worked?
Kellie Chauvin, wife of cop who killed Floyd.
Filed for divorce.
Antifa
Aren't they the group defeated and booted outta Europe?
People willing to do this dont give a damn about a virus.
They are younger, probably jobless, bored, and could use some stuff from stores.
Ghandi? There have also been many examples of protests back firing. I think the movement met its initial goals but now is roderless
Probably is Eugene Antifa. What's your point?
Are you participating in the riot protest Whinehole? Or just supporting da revolution from a distance?
Nonviolent protest didn't stop with Mahatma Ghandi or MLK. It's still a cornerstone of organized protestiing.
It works because atate violence deligitmizes government.
Maybe the cops should be on their best behavior.
I don't expect peaceful protests. The emotion is justified and a few busted windows and burned buildings don't really matter in the long term. But if people think this is going to lead to significant change, I think they're mistaken. In recent history, violent protests have been largely followed by the election of authoritarians and an increased focus on crime. Nixon, Reagan, Clinton and his 3-strikes, Trump. Video from the last two nights will be on the campaign ads for every Republican running for office.
Peaceful protests that were followed by successful elections? The Tea Party comes to mind. Post-2016 protests lead to a blue wave in 2018. Most gay rights protests after Stonewall have been peaceful, and there has been a lot of progress for them in the past ten years.
Again, I get the anger and I support a show of outrage. But as far as driving real change, I'm hard pressed to see how video of mobs burning down buildings and cop cars will help drive criminal justice reform and reduce police brutality. Historically, our reaction to highly publicized violence is to clamp down harder, not to loosen up.
This is what democracy looks like says the Democrats
