Following Beard's career, he's done what most coaches would do. Started off DII, and then once he had success there he jumped to UALR. Had a great season there, and then went up the next rung to Texas Tech so it only makes sense that he'd look for the next opportunity. IMO, I think his ultimate destination is a Blue Blood school whenever a spot opens up at a MSU, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc. I was kind of 50/50 on whether or not he would go to UT since he could potentially risk his stock dropping like Smart if he can't replicate the success he had at Tech there but any functional adult who's not mentally deranged would pick Austin over Lubbock 10/10 times

bruh texas techs ad said beard didnt even give tech a chance to counter.............bruh beard wanted to be at big brother texas............btw Blake tech mods said one of the reasons beard did not want to be at tech was in fact the under armour deal........beard had asked tech to get out of the ua deal & move to nike but tech refused which irked beard
I can't really blame Beard for deciding to live in Austin vs Lubbock. I'd do the same if the salaries were equal. It still leaves a really bad taste tho

Welcome to Texas, Coach Beard......and thank you for giving Lubbock a Texas-sized middle finger on the way out.
Tech gets a bad rap for being a place that college kids don't want to go. That may be true to a degree, but it's a solid place to live as a college student as the campus life is great IMHO.
But yeah, after that as someone who is single w/o a family, I don't see why the anybody would want to stick around. Only people I know who chose to live in Lubbock after college were either married couples who didn't have many options or manchildren who couldn't let go of their college glory days

Well yeah that's just about every program in the south
well LSU would still be pretty good, cause LA has some damn fine athletes.....but aside from LSU, the rest of the bordering state schools would pretty much suck without our players.
