Free agents this year really are puss poor lol Derrick Jones Jr & Dario Saric are the only two that would be solid signings for us imo
I really hope that if they aren’t making moves to benefit their future that they at least stick to the cap space plan. Don’t sign mediocre vets to any deals longer than 1 year. Do what you can to improve for this season but unless it’s a longish term player don’t put money on the books for no reason and low margin upgrades.
If your trading for one that has a longer deal and get a pick for it? Fine. But don’t just sign some aging vet like Rudy beyond 1 season. And for the love of God no more dead money years. That strategy sucks and has done nothing for SA
You boys need to do your homework, there are a ton of teams with a lot of wing players. We are not an anomaly in that area.....
the only way of him signing with the Spurs is if they offer him more money than all the other teams, which they can't cause all they got is the MLE
Crowder would be a solid addition but he'll likely want to play for a contending team
Spurs should sign Derrick Jones Jr. - Wish they had the $ to sign Jerami Grant.
If they are keeping Aldridge, they need to go small/athletic and start LMA at the 5. This means Poeltl prob wants to leave and wont be happy, but starting DeRozan/Aldridge/Poeltl is a nightmare for our young guys who need to get out and run and are challenged at playing in the half court at times.
White - Murray - Q/Jones
DeRozan - Mills - Vassell
Johnson - Walker
Jones Jr. - Gay - Lyles
Aldridge - Free Agent (Giles?) - Eubanks
Prob what I would start. Obviously I'd rather just move one or both of LMA/DDR.
I don't think Spurs should sign anyone, except maybe Josh Jackson or a similar low dollar rehab project.
I do hope they bring Poeltl, Weatherspoon, and Eubanks back.
I'd prefer they just focus on player development and exploring moves for their veterans.
They really need to target a wing who can play the 3 and 4 on defense with the MLE. We have none on our roster
I agree. Josh Jackson could work in that role.

Bobby Portis with the MLE would be solid for us or it would be sweet if we could snipe away any free agent the Knicks try to sign
We could trade Aldridge or DeRozan into their space. Knicks probably have more than max space now.

i was just thinking about portis to spurs instead of signing poeltl , would improve our offense and spacing but his defense is questionable..hmm
Portis is not a good player. Poeltl is. Poeltl will also have trade value over the next few years. Portis is so bad, the New York Knickerbockers don't want him.
Always gotta give Portis a punchers chance.
Trade rudy. Use the money to acquire a PF wing to start at the 4. Lyles play backup 4. I think its weird how rudy gay has not been subject to any trade talks whatsoever.

Jae Crowder is a great piece for a contender. Not a team trying to make a core of DePression/LMA/Rudy G/Bum Forbes work. Start with moving the trash out first.
Can we reset the convo post draft? Given the givens, where are the offers coming from for LMA and DDR?
And, are Gay and Mills more attractive pieces for a win team now like the Bucks, Philly, or Heat?
