While Poppys being deficient is now obvious to all but Popavich Krishnas, could an interim head coach taking over here and now do any better?

    Previous interim coaches who led.
    Paul Westhead 80 Lakers.
Pat Riley 82 Fakers with Riley replacing Westhead per Majics orders.
Pat Riley 06 again last year in the Mavs meltdown.

I would say throw in influence on FO for a trade and it's possible. With Riley, Phil Winters-Jackson being unavailable, don't know who could step in tho.

Current roster, while proper interim would do better the Pop it would seem to need a coaching job of the century to le these wheezers.

Keep Pop. I don't think an interim coach can can all those missed open jump shots and physically move all those old legs any faster.

I'm all for discussion of replacing Pop -- it will have to happen eventually anyway. I'm just always impressed at the complete bankruptcy of imagination from those so intent on making it happen now. I admit I really don't know about who is available to coach that could possibly be up to the task; that's why I ask. Who are we talking about here? Adelman? Fratel-(I just threw up in my mouth a little)-lo?

Well, who do you suggest take over as head coach?

You criticize, but you offer no ideas for solutions...you just bash.

If I were to want to replacer Pop I would consider:
    Terry Porter
    Dave Cowens

To be honest I don't really know all the candidates that would be available.

    Does anyone have a list?

Are you basing that on their previous stellar turns as head coaches?

Wow. A Fire Pop thread. An amazing, original solution that no one has ever thought of before!

I was directing it to the thread starter.

Dave Cowens did well as a rookie coach in Charlotte. He lead his teams to playoffs, once to the conference finals if I remember right.

Porter took a Bucks team to playoffs that was supposedly a solid lottery team.

They both were assistant coaches here....I do believe Porter was an assistant under Pop.

I like Cowens as a big man coach, though I would have loved to have hired Kareem Abdul -Jabbar as an assistant and possible successor to Pop.

    Porter? Meh.

For those who didn't catch the Dallas Morning News article on Billy Gillispie, he apparently is good friends with R.C. Buford.
