You don't have to "make this up." Every spouse of a President or Vice President has had a role in the administration.

What condition do you have that makes creating threads like this fun for you?

This is terrible no matter how you look at it, IMO. There has to be rules for this not to happen.

Why is this bad? There's literally a name for the position a spouse of a VP gets. It's usually the Second Lady. They always have a role within the administration.

This is nothing like putting your son in law in charge of global peace talks or giving your children top level security access.

It is a good thing for people like this to leave their jobs. Optics wise, it helps with any perceived conflicts of interest.

    Depends on the jerb.

If he's just helping out in the transition then going into Second Man duties I see no problem at all.

It's an informal le, and frankly, completely unnecessary.

Again, just my opinion, but you want to draw a contrast from the nepotism of the departing administration, not feed into the whataboutism.

If he were somebody exceptional, I could understand, but I don't think anybody heard about him until now.

Not even the biggest Trump haters complained about nepotism related to Melania Trump or Karen Pence. It's a given that spouses have roles.

Hopefully it's an exception and not a trend, tbh...

Of course. If their kids start getting top level security clearance and the Biden family requires world leaders to stay at the family chain of hotels, I'll be the first to protest.

“He represents large domestic and international corporations and some of today's highest profile individuals and influencers in complex business, real estate and intellectual property litigation disputes,” his firm profile reads.

Sounds like a good position to step down from when you're married to the Vice President Elect.

Not sure he could still be part of an independent law firm if his wife was the VPOTUS.

It's the "departing" thing that threw me. Never heard of such.

I thought it was fairly common... departing, outgoing, etc...

Here's a New Republic article using same:
