Remember when Pop was a defense first guy?
Coattails was all it was... Defense went out the window when Duncan and Co. left the building.

They extended a QO which he asked them to rescind to sign the same deal elsewhere....tf he talkin bout
He got snookered by the glitz and glamour is all that happened.

And if you thought his defense was bad before, wait until he starts getting the Laker crowd out of their seats for his athletic dunks. He'll forget to play defense even more than he did previously

If the money is equal who would pick San Antonio over LA?
Anyone who wants a lower cost of living maybe?

You think the Lakers prioritize defense when they let Jared, Caruso, Danny Green go so they can sign Westbrick and Carmelo?

Most do with LeBron. If he plays along side Westbrook in stretches, different story.

Or drive into an open layup only to pass the ball back out to a guarded man on the three point line

Not like he has to be concerned about cost of living.

These Walker quotes keep getting better. Apparently working out twice a day “mostly taking jumpshots” I guess because he is already a lockdown defender? He mentioned he can guard 1-3 and with the added physical strength he recently put on might be able to guard the 4.

Now that he is on the national stage are ppl asking him about what he brings defensively, thereby indirectly pointing out (or patronizing) he was one of the worst defensive players in the league last year and it is just going over his head? Maybe Skywalker IV should have been in LaLa Land from the jump.

True. Between taxes and his agent he'll net about 40% of that. Still not a bad year's pay.

Seriously. Rent a 7-10k a month pad that has a parking space for your whip. Add another 2-3k a month living expenses and go get some buckets and you might get a 50m deal next off-season. Oh and SoCal is pretty fking dooe if you don’t work in HR at Staples for 50k a year. He has already made 10ms in his career and is like 25.

I’m glad to see he got an opportunity elsewhere. Happier we didn’t retain him but even if he flops, to quote the homie Atl Spur “He will be just fine”

Lonnie will be at bigger stage. Lonnie will provide his dunks and Klutch will make sure he has enough exposures. I think he’s more than fine.

What I'm wondering is will he continue to shot sub 33% from three or was last a fluke? Can't imagine with his offensive inconsistency & horrid defense that anyone would s out big money for a below-average three-point shooter.

His dunks are though. He gets up like a mutha but that is it. Never yams on anyone. No flair. No pizzazz. No creativity.

The Fakers said they wanted Lonnie for his defense

Seriously he's with Klutch. I see him dunking and at a very marketable big stage The Lakers. ESPN highlights - Ka-ching

it is true that lonnie has an explosive burst burst but underwhelms when he gets to the rim.

FiveThirtyEight Defensive Raptor, SG minimum 1174 minutes, their default

Walker improved defensively in 2020-2021, with that improvement near matched by getting worse offensively

    84) -1.8 Evan Fournier, Caris LeVert, Patty Mills, Klay Thompson, Lonnie Walker IV

    bottom five:

    100) -2.7 Eric Gordon, Jalen Green, Donovan Mitc , Norman Powell
    105) -3.3 Ben McLemore
    106) -3.4 Terrence Ross
    107) -3.5 Bryn Forbes
