Well, yes, but it could me a misdemeanor, or a felony. Depends on the state and the particulars of the case... ie: in California it can go from misdemeanor probation and county jail, to felony probation and state prison sentences.
Looking back at my post, I misspoke, I meant "looking at felony charges"
I would highly doubt that a beating of that severity would not be charged as a felony in any state.
But a politically motivated prosecutor can always be an x-factor.

You make a great point, though. It is why I base my decisions more of what I see and experience personally rather than corporate or social media.
