Then who is on the chopping block?
The salary would be useful, so I don’t think he gets cut.
Then who is on the chopping block?
It’s just an advertisement ^^
Spurs signed Aric Holman to a training camp deal. NOW that makes it 20. Aric is one of Keldon’s best buds and I’m sure theyre doing it as a favor. He’s often in his workout videos and twitch streams.
My prediction:
-Aminu, Holman will be cut
-Renfro will be cut and signed to the second two way contract
-Thaddeus Young will be traded for a second round pick
Leaves the Spurs with 15 players + 2 two way contract players (Wieskamp, Renfro)
Who's taking Young without trading salary? Plus Thad is a top-three player on the team. They better not dump him to keep some scrub 15th man.
If Renfro was a real two-way candidate, the Spurs likely would've signed him to an X-10 deal instead of X-9. Seems more that they're going to send him to the d-league after he provides depth to cover Collins' injury during camp.
Oh, he was signed to an X-10 deal. Could've sworn the original post said X-9.
ah this Thad is a top 3 player on this team garbage again. It’s really not worth talking about it.
my guess is they trade him for another expiring and a pick. Then they proceed to cut the returning player.
Get your facts straight Chinook, geez
*says the guy who didn't understand half of that last part*
... Why not just cut the worse player already on their team then? When push comes to shove, there's more to building for the future than maximizing the number of young players on the roster. Getting good value for trades and having a strong vet presence are more important than keeping guys who can't make this rotation.
Spurs trading Young for a 2nd rounder would be incredibly dumb
I think they should cut Aminu if he indeed is broken down. I don’t see us involved in any big trades especially outside of the off-season. Sounds like they did their due diligence with trades, which was likely quite brief as they got turned off by the terms (thinking of BS here), and moved onto looking at smaller trades, which also haven’t materialized.
I just don’t see any mid-season moves other than cutting and, possibly, wasting assets in the service of doing right by the player (thinking of Thad here).
But hey, we’ll see.
Spurs are terrible at making trades I don’t see us getting much if anything for these guys unfortunately
I just did a mental exercise and I could name 13 of the 20 players on the team. Exciting times!

Keldon slimming down for that SF lockdown defensive position ala Sean, Bruce, Kawhi. McDermont playing stretch 4.
I’m interested in seeing Vassel play bc I think he probably has the most star potential as a scorer and defender.
Given how young this team is, I would keep a Vet like Young on the team unless I got a first round pick for him. I’m sure leadership is why they wanted Manu there.
Thanks for this and all the other posts Ace!
I don’t see Keldon ever being more than ‘good’ on defense, but if he can be that, he can bully 3s on the other end.
Teams would just use pf on him and swings on McDermott.
Then he’ll take the 4 out to the perimeter. Bullying isn’t just one thing. His offense is versatile enough to attack 3s in the post, or take 4s out to the perimeter, and attack them there, off the dribble, or off the bounce if they back off.
