And pretending it's about something else, such as the birth of an individual who taught precisely the opposite.
Christmas is the perfect American holiday - centered on buying huge amounts of consumer products you can't afford and worrying about getting consumer products you don't need.
And pretending it's about something else, such as the birth of an individual who taught precisely the opposite.
congratulations. you guys ed this thread up.
Wow...
I miss a day and don't have time to read this huge thread.
I will say however from what little I read, it dosn't matter if one believes or not. It doesn't matter that Christmas was not a Christian holiday, but the Christians of the past stole Christmas.
What matters is that Christmas has become an American tradition. It should just be that simple.
amenWhat matters is that Christmas has become an American tradition.
Okay, Tyler Durden.
207 replies in under 24 hours.........Darrin wins the "piss everyone off about Christmas" award this year.
I don't think DarrinS pissed anyone off.
I think he said something obviously stupid and the dogpile was on.
Wow indeed. So far, DarrinS and 101A are the only people in this thread that haven't shown the ability to "get it".

He didn't say what book it was though.
The Physics of Female Muscle Control maybe?
Scott Walker, stoking the eternal flame of Yuletide grievance, reaches somewhat awkwardly for a Jewish analogy:
According to Herbert W Armstrong (and echoed elsewhere, notably in 7th Day Adventism) the Christmas tree tradition is a satanic lie that smuggles in Babylonian Sun worship.

what a stupid thread
Terminally aggrieved.
No one is prevented from saying Merry Christmas in the USA. No one is prevented from celebrating Christmas in the USA
Some people are just sore about having to acknowlege other creeds and resent having to share the public square with them.

Was this back when you actually had a family?
Why not post in the most relevant thread rather than starting a new one?
Plus, digging up the old thread underscores how tired the war on Xmas schtick is -- I found threads going back as far as 2005.
Not sure why tou think searching old threads is pathological, I find it amusing/interesting.
