I like the deal all things considered. Doesn't hamper the Spurs plans for next off-season. Simmons on the other hand will be interesting. Not sure the Spurs initially thought Simmons would be in the long-term plans for the franchise so I'm interested to see what they do there. Wouldn't surprise me if they decided not to match considering the clear plan for next off-season.

They wasted the MLE on a player coming off a serious injury AND they gave him a player option for next year.
    They didn't waste the MLE..

He did just dump his player option that would have given him that much money in one year. If he's truly done, he's not giving up that guaranteed Sacramento money.

the most success Memphis had while he was there was him sitting in a suit when the Spurs received 8

Heck, even if the Spurs had the second year option, they would never have the heart to decline it.

Every top team in the West wanted this guy. He clearly had his choice, and went with best fit. He has opportunity to play large minutes with spurs who lack scoring punch. Can also be a good defender when motivated. Sure this will be the best team he has ever been on. If he comes back healthy and can replicate last season or similar, he's a great pickup for spurs.

Can we trade for Wes Matthews? Bring Kobe out of retirement? I'd love to see a lineup of players coming off of career-killing injuries

Exactly. He's here for two years unless he's bought out in the 2nd due to sucking. They'll still have enough to sign a max player with Aldridge and Parker coming off the books but, I wanted the option of 2 max players. What is it with the Spurs and reclamation projects?

Most success Joe Johnson's had was getting bounced in the second round. Doesn't mean that people don't consider him clutch.

Gay, Aldridge and Kawhi on the front line.

    That just sounds impressive.
