I think everybody will start and try to get a big lead early
Might as well start this and start guessing who replaces the big 3... I suspect Parker might see some minutes, but not a given IMO. I'll be surprised if Tim and Gino play...
I think everybody will start and try to get a big lead early
Not a true back to back since the game against Toronto was an early one. Everybody will play.
The game, where it will be the Toros, is Thursday against Miami.
miami is nationally televised
so pop will definitely give the nba the finger and go full toros
Go Toros!!
Be a very good test for Patty, Nando and Gary IMO, but at the same time, the pressure will be there that they will be up against a lower tier team without a top level PG. There are no excuses for failure in this game.
I'd like to see at least 10-12 minutes each for Nando and Patty...
Classic pop, imo.
That would be pretty stupid to do. It would waste a game against a possible championship foe and test to see you're progress against the best compe ion.
We're getting blown out either way tbh without Sjax and Kawhi.
Pop rather rest somebody from the big3 @orlando
cannot wait for the media / miami heat backlash from that
paul millsap going public having a cry about that last year was priceless, especially a few months after, when Spurs swept Utah in the playoffs
But IMO he will not rest anyone. This is a test if the spurs can handle tough schedule. Of course he will not worn the guys out but he will play everybody.
Btw. The spurs had a chance to sleep all night after the toronto game at the hotel I assume cause I don't know if they went short after the game but spurs usually does that
On one hand, what you're saying is the closest to common sense, that the result of playing everyone will be an important gauge as to whether the team can function together shorthanded on a tough schedule v an elite team.
But Pop resting the big 3 in a blockbuster nationally televised game that the big 3 should be playing in so the Spurs know where they stand v elite teams is the special kind of curveball that Pop has thrown again and again.
I really think it's more likely Pop will tank v Miami
The Wiz played the Spurs tough in the preseason tuneup game for the regular season. Manu was out but the Wiz were a handful.
For what it's worth, McDonald and the other people in the Express-News tweeted that they'd be surprised if Duncan played.
Miami has been sitting at home since Saturday night while the Spurs will be on their 4th game in five nights. Even if you're interested in where you stand against an elite opponent on Nov 29th, this game won't provide that information. If you're looking for an early season litmus test, the next game against Memphis will serve that purpose. Bruno is right. If Pop is going to rest his best players, he'll do it for the Miami game.
I really would like to see Timmy get some rest (Manu does not need it tbh), but this season Pop has yet to prove that he still wants to manage the minutes as he did the past seasons. I expect everybody to be avaliable.
orlando isnt that good
i would rather see pop rest the team vs them and go all out vs miami
but if were looking at win/loss its more likely to get 2 losses that way
but the team needs to play the champs to see how they matchup
so far when weve played in miami its been blowouts
first time in the lebron era they padded the lead once pop waved the white flag in the late 3rd and they played starters til the end
the second time was the tale of two halves game where lebron/miller/chalmers would just pull up in transition and drain 3s
Wiz have athletes and some decent size/big men in Nene (who's healthy and playing now), Seraphin who's continuing to grow and play decent, Okafor....They don't have a lot of outside shooting, but they have some guys who can go one on one and score. They aren't a good team, but solid athletes and when they get going early shooting, they stick around. Their biggest weakness right now is PG play - they are rotating between AJ Price and Shaun Livingston as their starters. TP should be able to handily out play them and that is where you can really beat them right now.
I'd rather Pop rest maybe Manu/TD vs Magic if anything, and let them play vs Miami. It's going to be tough considering we have no Jack/Leonard. But TD kinda dominated Bosh in the pre-season and with the way he's playing no reason to think he can't do it again.
Let's just not give the Wizards their first win of the season. That would be embarrassing.
I agree that Pop will probably screw the media again and tank vs Miami.
The Vegas line is Spurs -6. That's way too close. I'll bet they know (or at least strongly suspect) that Pop will sit Timmy and Manu tonight.
Spurs win, but a close one.
