The explosion of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apei was about 20km away
As long as Hawaii gets spared. That’s my retirement plans.
Jesus, its like a nuke going off.
So how major of a volcanic eruption is this? Is this something like Mt St Helens that had minimal environmental impact or is this closer to the eruption that gave us the year without a summer around like 1815?
Apparently it was heard over 1500 miles away in New Zealand. Wonder how big the tsunami is gonna be for the west coast?
Well they decided not to issue one for Washington State so guessing they're not expecting much.
Saw it was just an advisory for now but earlier they said there was no threat. Obviously something changed their mind. To be fair there isn't much data on tsunamis caused by volcanic eruptions.
One to three feet, reportedly. Should be hitting over the next hour or two.
Hawaii is fine, apparently
Up to three foot wave, lasted three hours.
There's no such thing. NK set off a nuke.
